The All Progressives Congress, APC, Youths Renaissance has
slammed elder statesman and former lawmaker, Junaid
Mohammed for his recent call on Nigerians to rise up against
President Muhammadu Buhari.
Junaid was recently quoted in the media as saying that Buhari
should be declared incapacitated and subsequently
impeached due to his health challenges.
The outspoken elder statesman, who warned the presidency
to open up on the whole truth about Buhari’s health status,
noted that Nigeria was too big to be micro-managing her
number one citizen.
“If I am to comment on issues that concern Nigerians, I won’t
shy away from telling President Buhari the home truth
anywhere he is making mistakes. I criticized General Abacha
as Head of State and told him some truths in private and
sometimes face to face. I believe if people can challenge
their friends in power, it shows they are not intimidated by the
powerful.
“If Aisha Buhari can say what she said about her husband, I
think the President needs to check himself and retrace his
steps on some issues that concern the country. I think the
question the President needs to ask himself is that after one
he has taken over the reigns of power, what has changed? Is
Nigeria better off than when he took over on May 29, 2015?
The truth is that Nigeria is worse off today than when Buhari
took over the reigns of power.
“Every Nigerian today is worse off and nothing seems to be
working under this government. Some who are rich in 2015
cannot say same today due to the economic woes that
Nigeria is presently experiencing and we cannot continue to
close our eyes off it,” Junaid had said.
Reacting however, Collins Edwin, the National Secretary of
the group in a statement forwarded to DAILY POST warned
Junadi to stop making crude comments about a sitting
president.
According to him, “We read with utmost shock the report
credited to Dr. Junaid Muhammed asking Nigerians to rise up
against the National Assembly if it fails to impeach President
Muhammadu Buhari on grounds of his temporal health
challenge.
“We tarried a while, thinking and hoping that the Second
Republic House Member would recant the statement credited
to him in the media, alleging that President Buhari has been
incapacitated and can no longer discharge his duties as
President of Nigeria effectively.
“Since, he has refused to do otherwise, we have no reason to
doubt the authenticity of the report!
“Therefore, we have decided to respond to his jaundiced and
myopic understanding of the Nigerian law and legislative
framework before his baloney gains obfuscating grounds.
“As Chief purveyor of rumour, Dr. Junaid Muhammed has
become synonymous with Balonga lies especially with his
imaginary conspiracy theory or cabal hypothesis.
“If there is anybody Nigerians should rise up against, it should
be Dr. Muhammed who is being financed by corrupt
politicians to discredit our legitimate government to pave the
way for his financier to ruin the country.
“Hence, we are using this medium to warn Dr. Junaid
Muhammed that if he dare our President again or distract
those working with him to reposition our country for
greatness, we will expose his sponsors and those who are
spreading unfounded rumours about the President’s health
status.”
