''Those who voted Buhari in 2015 should ask God for forgiveness'' Governor Fayose says

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, who is a strong critic of the Buhari administration, said this when he spoke to representatives of teachers, local government workers and private sector operators who paid him a courtesy visit in the state house in Ado-Ekiti, under the Oshoko Mass Movement(OMM), a political group.
“Those who voted Muhammadu Buhari as the president of our country must seek for forgiveness. His leadership has brought unimaginable hardship and misery on the people. The killing is too much and if he continues in office the hardship will be intolerable. They said he would come and make the difference andmake things better but the reverse is the case.Unemployment is second to none and he has killed the economy and made the people poorer. The level of nepotism is also unprecedented. Even their so-called fight against corruption is laced with favouritism and is one-sided,” he saidFayose during his speech, lamblasted the former governor of the state now Minister of Mines and Steel, Kayode Fayemi, for allegedly not using his office for the benefit of the state.“There are natural deposits across Ekiti, President Muhammadu Buhari spent N40billion searching for crude oil inthe north, what is Fayemi doingto unearth the minerals that abound here?”
he askedFayose thanked Ekiti teachers and parents for making it possible for the state to take a big leap in the secondary education sector. He applaudedthem for endorsing his deputy, Kolapo Olusola, as his successor.

'You’ve failed Nigerians' - Senator Dino Melaye tells his party, APC

Senator Dino Melaye has taken a swipe at his party for failing to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

According to Vanguard, the senator spoke after he was conferred with theLegislator of the Year 2017 by Daily Asset Newspaper in Abuja. He said:

“The APC government has become Public Complaint Commission. We have more complains in the APC and even in the Presidency than service rendered.

We cannot as a people continue like this. The President said two days ago we should all embrace peace but I want to say without fear or favour that there can be no peace without justice.

There is hunger in the land, there is poverty in the land, and there is unemployment in the land.

A lot of decision has not been taken; yet we say we want peace. The primary objective of government is the security and welfare of the people.

There is no security, there is no welfare".'Nigeria is not only sick presently but equally suffers from regretful congenital abnormality. There is therefore a serious need for amelioration, palliation and correction.

Democracy will continue to be government of the people by the people for the people but what we have today is greedocracy which is government of the greedy by the greedy and for the greedy.

I delivered a lecture recently at the University of Lagos and some students from very wealthy homes, two of them said they didn’t care who the president of the country is and that it was none of their business because their parents were rich'.

"I said to them that when the poor have nothing to eat, they will start eating the rich. A time will come when it will be difficult to drive your expensive cars on the streets.

There was no kidnapping before, and kidnapping is seen as the redistribution of both ill-gotten and legitimate wealth.People now take from the rich and appropriate to themselves.”

President Buhari refuses to sign Peace Corps Bill

President Buhari has withheld assent to the bill seeking to establish thePeace Corps.

The President informed the lawmakers of his decision in a letter read during plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

President Buhari cited security concerns and financial burden of funding the organisation by the government as his reasons for rejecting the bill.

According to the President, given “scarce government resources”, funding the organisation will be a financial burden on the federal government.

The National Assembly passed the Peace Corps Bill in 2017, after a prolonged battle involving the organisation and the nation’s security agencies.

The bill has been widely anticipated by many Nigerians, especially the youth who believe creation of the corps will reduce unemployment.

Northern Christians plead with International organisations to help remove Buhari from office

A group of Christians in the North, under the aegis of Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association has solicited the help of International bodies to help rescue Nigerians from the “bad leadership” of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Among the global bodies from which the association sought help are the African Union, the European Union, the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations and the United States of America.

President of ACIPA, Luke Shehu said president Buhari is “nepotistic”, while the “Nigerianethnic nationalities and particularly the Northern Christians are under siege.”

The organisation scored Buhari very low on security saying hisgovernment has failed in its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property. Shehu said,“While we may not conclude that insurgency in Nigeria is state-sponsored, thereis clear and obvious complicity by government officials in some quarters.

“This administration should stop deceiving Nigerians that Boko Haram has been defeated.

The truth is that after three years, Boko Haram has yet tobe defeated despite thepre-election promise todo so in less than six months.”

New elections reorder undermines INEC’s independence - Immediate past chairman, Jega

The immediate past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Attahiru Jega, has questioned the power of the National Assembly to alter the sequence of the 2019 elections.

Jega made his position known at an event organised by the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth and Development in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking at the event with the theme, ‘Is Nigeria’s Democracy Under Threat?’ Jega said the National Assembly’s action undermined the independence ofINEC.

The former INEC boss also stated that the cost of election would be higher if the National Assembly succeeds in changing the election sequence.

Lagos State announces plan to ban sand mining activities by April 2018

The Lagos State Government has announced its intention to ban all sand miningactivities by April 30, 2018, with a view to forestalling flooding and continual degradation of the State ecosystem.

Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Olawale Oluwo who disclosed this today at a meeting with miners and other stakeholders held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, said that the State government has, however, granted the miners a 2-month reprieve to wind up their mining activities before enforcement ofthe ban.

He said, since January 2016, the State Government through the Ministry had given a Stop-Work order to the miners due to the seeming imminent disaster and danger posed by their mining activities, but now has to resort to total ban to protect public infrastructure aswell as lives and property of citizenry especially of those who resides around coastal areas of the State.

According to the Commissioner who was represented at the meeting by the Permanent Secretary,Engineer Bade Adebowale,“The government has to be decisive as the land degradation caused by activities of miners around areas like Ajah, Lekki, Epe and Ikorodu axis has reached an alarming stage, requiring urgent attention of everyone for the sake of prosperity and generation yet unborn”.

He added that what is collectedas fees for land restoration and haulage by the government is far below the gain from the business, which invariably places a lot of deficit on the doorstep of government.

“Please obey the law of government in your own interest”, Olowu said.

Facts about the newly appointed DG of National Intelligence Agency - Femi Adesina sets the record straight

Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the President on media and publicity has come out to set the record straight about the newly appointed DG of NIA, Ahmed Abubakar.

According to him, a lot of half-truths, misinformation, and outright falsehood have attended the announcement of a new Director-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), in the person of Mr Ahmed Rufai Abubakar .

Some of such unfounded stories include that Abubakar had retired from the services of NIA as an Assistant Director, because he failed promotion examinations twice, and had to quit, willy-nilly.

Others claim he is married to a Moroccan, and so cannot hold such sensitive security position, while others say he was born and bred in Chad, andhe holds dual nationality.

All these have been widely disseminated on the social, and some mainstream media. With the formal assumption of office by Mr Abubakar, it is now necessary to set the facts straight.

The new NIA DG retired from Foreign Service as Deputy Director (not Assistant Director) and three times during his career, had won Merit Award for competence and meritorious service. Failingpromotion examination can onlyexist in the fecund minds of fiction writers.

His last position before the new appointment was as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs/International Affairs where again he quietly proved himself.
Abubakar's parents hailed fromKatsina State, and had settled in Chad at a point in their lifetime. The new DG did his primary school in Ndjamena (then Fort-Lamy), but returned to Nigeria for his secondary and University education.

He never at any time held Chadian nationality.Mr Abubakar's only wife hails from Katsina State, indeed, from the same community as the husband.

The story of beingmarried to a Moroccan can onlybe tale by moonlight, concocted by people who love a fib.The President appointed the new DG because he had worked closely with him in the past two years, and sincerely believes that he would add value to the NIA.

''Why we have rodents in Aso Rock'' – Permanent Secretary, Jalal Arabi explains

The Permanent Secretary in the State House, Jalal Arabi, yesterday said rodents and other pests can be found in Presidential Villa because of its location and availability of what he called “eatables”.

He spoke when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Recall that last year, President Buhari upon his return from the UK where he had gone for medical checkup, relocated his office to his official residence.
His media aide, Garba Shehu, had explained that the officie was relocated because rodents had infested the president's office and that work was being done to refurbish it.

Arabi who is the permanent secretary of the state house, gave an insight as to why the statehouse has rodents in it.
A member of the committee, Senator Joshua Lidani (PDP, Gombe) had said to him “On a lighter note, have you made provision for fumigation? Because there were reports that rodents invaded the president’s office last year.

”Responding, Arabi said:

“You know Abuja is so blessed with so many eatables, attracting rodents and other animals. You know where the Villa is located, it’s on a valley.

You can’t restrict their movement because of the international convention on animals,” he said.

Ogun Rice Pyramid: A Word for The Nay Sayers and Never-Do-Well

In Ogun State, it is definitely not the season of discontent, as some would want the world to believe.

In fact, contrary to the wishes of the army of Photoshop and mis-information experts prowling the landscape, the Ogun State of today isa place where success and good governance have found residence.

It’s a place where the glory of God shines from the top of the rocks of peace and progress! And this is why some of us, ordinary citizens, not given to politics of misinformation are not only appalled by the futile attempts of some mischievous elements to alter the facts around developments in Ogun State, but are resolved, more than ever before, tonever give in to the nay-saying apostles of malice.Of course we know that whenever our electoral cycle comes around, it becomes the frantic occupation of the idle and treacherous to seek the scorching waste-yards of the market and the company of their cousin rodents and roaches.

There, on the vomitorium of stench and decay, they often pitch their tents for the seasonal dance of nitwits.Yet, in the final analysis, the truth often far outpaces their muck. Unknown to these professional charlatans, Ogun State has redefined politics and governance as the distinguished provenance of the best social, civic and humanitarian service, brought by a collective of the best of the people, to the homesteads of the people.

This is why in our Ogun State of today, there is so much to celebrate and still a lot more work to do! It is those who are willing wheels of progress that will readily come aboard the train of progress that continues to move forward while leaving behind the crowned morons of treachery stranded on the lonesome stations of failure.

A case in point is the recent effort of the state government to renew Ogun State’s agricultural stock with a focus on rice. As a farmer, I know that the state ministry of Agriculture worked with citizens, farmers and stakeholders in the private sector to achieve this feat.

The MITROS Ofada Rice is grown, milled and baggedin the state, a formidable move aimed at ameliorating the scarcity and smuggling of rice. Anyone who understandsthe vagaries and promise of farming, like I do, will understand the incredible journey that we have made from initiative to plenty.

On December 21, 2017, the state government held a celebratory homage to our agricultural initiative and progress just in time for the end of the year.

In MITROS rice our collective effort brought us one hundred thousand bags of rice! That is incontestable. It is an irreversible progress in the remarkable journey ofgrowth and development for Ogun State. The government in ensuring that the quality of life is markedly improved for the people, wherever they may live, whomever they may be, invested in and produced this feat! I make bold to say that before now, suchepochal coordinates werewasted by previous governments of terror and thuggery.

It is therefore no surprise thatthis success would turn the fowl bellies of these never-do-wells inside out.Alas! How they quibble and whine like brats of a wasted heritage. They opine odiously that they couldn’t see the rice. So, let us, for a moment, give the blabbering ones some banana, if they can still find their way home…

As one of the farmers involved in the entire process, I am aware that a point a decision was made to historicize this agricultural landmark in our dear state by paying visual homage to Egypt and the pyramids of Kano. Building a pyramid is a feat of engineering genius, an appropriate representation for the work of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun administration.

The optics of representation did not, however, mean the exact replication of the engineering mastery of Egypt. So we tested the engineering efficiencies ofour own pyramids, beforethe actual construction and display. We wanted to ensure that our pyramid of rice was strong and the safety of our dignitaries was taken care of. As we worked, wedid several test runs one afternoon in broad daylight; and in open view of the public.

No secrets, nothing to hide. We tested the structure with unbranded bags of rice, measuring weight and other dimensions to ensure stability and geometric efficiencies. We took pictures of the work in progress, recording different anglesand phases of the pyramid.

These pictures we exchanged among ourselves, some of us excited farmers and for our engineering teams, to assess work progress. Unknown to us, this level of conceptualization would be fuddle some mindless nay-sayers. Alas, it is now these work pictures that are being bandied around by the idle minds.

They have gone to town busy at what they do best as the ‘party-of-No.’ Their cabal of idiocy camouflages as opposition.

It is our sad reality that even in our state, we harbour a battered group of people one could describe as mindless orangutans, members of the ‘Party of Distress and Pettiness.’ We will therefore not belittle our own intelligence and the seriousness of our collective destiny as sons and daughters of Ogun State, by giving them any further point by point response hereon.Whether they like it or not,Ogun State is the story of affirmed success, for where were they when Governor Amosun renewed the landscape ofour state, building new roads, creating a new network of possibilities for industrial growth? Are these roads imaginary or real entities that have also provided the ease of travel and transportation for our people? What treewere they climbing as Governor Amosun built the state’s foreign exchange earnings? Ogun State, our state, now owns 75% of the Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), in Nigeria.
We are rated as number one among the 36 states of the federation in the percentage improvement of the Internally Generated Revenues between 2014 and 2017.

A Yoruba master sculptor,Bisi Fakeye, when faced with a band of similarly afflicted empty critics, his response was to reach deep into the pockets of Yoruba wisdom. “Gbegi Gbegiti gbegi tan, ti Gbenu Gbenu loku” he said.

The master sculptorof three dimensional values has given the world his gift of art and life; let the mindless wagging tongues of the mouth-breathers slurp their idle tales, alone! As a farmer who contributed to that success story, I cannot be swayed or distracted by nay sayers.

The best I cando for them is to advice that they find a new pastime and make effort to be part of the march of progress.

We encourage them to move away from mindlessly hopping from tree to tree, howling and hauling falsehoods. Bolarinwa Ojesegun, a rice farmer, sent this piece from Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Igbo Senators receives President Buhari over IPOB

President Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has met with Igbo senators in an effort to solve the issue with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
According to Daily Post, the senators, led by the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, said the South East region has been shortchanged by the Federal Government.
The Chairman of the South East Senate Caucus, Eyinnaya Abaribe, speaking to the press after the meeting in the Presidential Villa in the State house said:
This is the southeast caucus in the Senate and we came to see the president because of the issues we have in the southeast.
We had a fruitful discussion with the President. He has promised us that he is going to look into the problems of southeast.
We know that there are problems everywhere but we also believe that the South East is the zone that is far much shortchanged at this time than other zones.
We also talked about the issue of appointments from the South East, especially with respect to the National Security Council. The President also told us that governors of the South East have also engaged him in the same problems we engaged him in.
We are reassured with the response we got from the President and we look forward to further interaction with him in this manner.
Ekweremadu, who also spoke to the press, said issues on infrastructure in the South-East, including roads, railway and airports were discussed.
He added that security and IPOB were also discussed, and the President promised to look into the matter. He said:
For us from the South East, we believe that dialogue is better than any other form of engagement.
So, we decided to visit the President and present to him some of the concerns of the South East including the issues of roads, general infrastructure; the rail, airports and others.
We also discussed the issue of security with him and of course the issue of IPOB. We had a good conversation and he promised to look into the issues.
