What Pleases God? - Andrew Wommack
During a Sunday morning service in St. Joseph,
Missouri, a few years back, I asked the congregation
how many of them really want to please God more than
anything else. Every hand went up. Then I asked them,
“How many of you think God is really pleased with you?”
Out of at least 400 people, one 11-year-old boy and one
10-year-old girl raised their hands. That was all.
Very few believers actually believe that they are pleasing
to God. Most feel some degree of forgiveness and
maybe acceptance, but to think that the Lord is actually
pleased with us is another matter. A person can choose
to love you because of his or her own goodness, but to
be pleased with you, they actually have to like your
performance. Right?
With God, no one could ever be pleasing to Him based
on performance. His standard is perfection, and no
goodness on our part can ever compensate for our
sins. We may please man with our actions, but “all have
sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom.
3:23). It takes the precious blood of Jesus to do that.
The way we receive the forgiveness that’s available
through Jesus’ blood is by faith (Rom. 10:9-17). When
we put our faith in Jesus as our Savior, we are pleasing
God. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is
impossible to please him.”
Faith comes from the heart (Rom. 10:10), and God
looks on the heart — not the actions (1 Sam. 16:7). Of
course, God sees our actions and will deal with us
about them, but only because they are inseparably
linked to our hearts (Prov. 23:7). It’s our hearts that
really concern God, and faith in Him (trust, reliance) is
what He is searching the heart for.
A person whose actions are not right but who trusts the
Lord is more pleasing to God than an individual who is
doing the right things but has no faith in God. It’s not a
case of those who act the best will get accepted, and
those who act the worst get rejected. That would put
some of the followers of other religions ahead of many
Christians, but that is not what the Bible teaches.
This is exactly the point Paul is making in Romans 11:6:
“And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise
grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it
no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” That’s
old English for saying, “It’s one way or the other but not
a combination of the two.” We’re either saved by God’s
grace through what Jesus did for us, or we’re saved by
what we do without Jesus, but not a combination of the
two. The choice should be the obvious.
Elijah is an example of a great man who lived a holy life
and didn’t earn God’s pleasure with his actions. He
made some serious mistakes. He ran in the face of
persecution and became so depressed over it that he
asked the Lord to kill him (1 Kin. 19). The Lord gave
him three direct commands in an audible voice (1 Kin.
19:15-16), and Elijah never did two of them (refer to
my teaching entitled “Elijah’s Downfall?”).
Most people
would think God couldn’t have been pleased with Elijah,
yet Elijah was translated.
Even though our heart conditions influence our actions,
we all fail in our performance to some degree. Elijah
did. If God used performance as the basis of whether or
not He was pleased with us, no one would ever pass the
test. “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord,
who shall stand?” (Ps. 130:3).
Satan used to accuse me and say, “What makes you
think God will use you?” The truth is that none of us are
perfect, we don’t deserve the blessings of God. Now I
put my faith in Jesus. It’s hard for some people to
accept this. It has been ingrained in us that if we aren’t
holy, God won’t bless us. When God looks at you, He
doesn’t see your goodness — He sees Jesus.
If you’re walking in faith, you use faith as the rate of
exchange between you and God. God is pleased with
you even though your actions don’t measure up. Your
life may be a wreck, but God is still pleased with you.
Our religion says that is hypocrisy. On the contrary, the
worst sin is self-righteousness — the attitude that God
owes it to you because you’ve been good.
The difficult thing is that there are no role models for
grace. Your employer hires you based on performance.
The parent-child relationship is based on performance,
even though it shouldn’t be. When it comes to God, your
performance can’t earn you anything. If you sin, you
need a savior. It is your faith in Jesus that will grant you
access to God.
Most people accept this level of grace when it pertains
to salvation. However, some of you may think that after
you’re born again, God expects you to pray and study;
and if you don’t do these things, God won’t bless you.
After you are born again, it doesn’t change! Colossians
2:6 says, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus
the Lord, so walk ye in him.” When we are born again,
we come to Jesus just as we are. In fact, if a person
has a lot of sin, it’s even more reason to come to
Jesus. When it comes to being healed, it’s a different
story with most Christians. They think if you haven’t
read your Bible today or you had a fight on the way to
church, it will keep you from being healed.
That’s a
double standard. That’s saying that the way you
approach God after you’re born again is different. Your
actions may not please God today, but you can be
healed or delivered in spite of it.
Some of you may think I’m advocating sin. I’m not —
your actions are important to you. Your holiness is
important because it changes your heart toward God
and not God’s heart toward you.
Unholiness will hurt
you. Even though God will love you just as much, you
won’t love God as much. It will harden your heart
toward God. It’s like eating. You must eat to stay alive,
but eating is not life. If you miss one meal, will you die?
If you constantly live in sin and never feed yourself
spiritually, it will kill you. I am not saying you should
ignore your actions. You will never do everything
perfectly, but don’t let it keep you from receiving the
blessings of God.
Luke 22 shows us an example of someone who had
faith and pleased God. In verses 31 and 32 Jesus is
talking to Peter before the crucifixion.
“And the Lord
said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have
you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed
for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art
converted, strengthen thy brethren.” Peter did blow it
tremendously. He denied the Lord three times. He
cursed and blasphemed God, and yet Jesus prayed that
his faith wouldn’t fail. Jesus’ prayers were always
answered. Peter’s actions failed, but not his faith . If
Peter hadn’t repented it would have killed him. He was
restored to God and went on to become a pillar of the
church.
Some of you may be thinking, This is great — I can live
like the devil and still get what I want from God.” If you
think that, I’d say you aren’t born again, because a
Christian wants to please God. This word is for
Christians who have a desire to serve God but who still
sin. When that happens, you go on and catch up and
stand there with confidence in your Savior. Your faith in
Jesus pleases God. None of us get saved and head
straight on the path to God. We bounce around, but
we’re still heading in the general direction.
“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath
made us accepted in the beloved” (Eph. 1:6). You do
please God through your faith in Jesus as your Savior,
and you must perceive that you please Him.
Remain Steadfast In The Faith - Joseph Prince
1 Peter 5:8–9
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil
walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may
devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith…
When I was a teenager, I was taught that if I wanted to
resist the devil, I had to rebuke him. So whenever an
evil thought came to my mind or I was tempted, I found
myself saying, “I resist you, devil, in Jesus’ name! I bind
you, devil! Go away from me, devil! I rebuke you in
Jesus’ name!”
This went on until God showed me one day that though
I had “resisted” the devil, I had spent more time talking
to him than to God! I was more conscious of the devil
than of God throughout the day.
I checked the Word of God and realized that we resist
the devil not by focusing on resisting him, but by being
established in the faith that we are made right with God
through Jesus’ blood, that we are the righteousness of
God in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Yes, the devil will continue to remind you of your
mistakes, failures and sins. And he will tell you that
because of these things, you cannot receive your
healing, that you will have to pay for your mistakes or
that something bad will happen to your family. He will
accuse you, condemn you and try to persuade your
heart to believe that he can do bad things to you.
But the truth is that the devil cannot enforce anything in
your life if he cannot persuade your heart.
And your
heart cannot be persuaded if it is “steadfast in the
faith”, if it is established in righteousness.
God says that
once you are established in righteousness, “You shall be
far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from
terror, for it shall not come near you”. (Isaiah 54:14)
So now that my heart is established in righteousness, I
can boldly declare, “Yes, I may have these problems in
my life, but I am not guilty in God’s eyes. I am justified
in God’s eyes by faith because of what Christ has done.
I am righteous by Jesus’ blood!” My friend, that is how
you resist the devil and become undevourable!
Thought For The Day
We resist the devil not by focusing on resisting him, but
by being established in the faith that we are the
righteousness of God in Christ.

Religion Will Kill Us All In Nigeria If . .. - Wole Soyinka Blows Hot
Speaking during a book launch of renowned professor
and author, Olufemi Vaughan on Thursday in Abuja,
Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has lamented
the rate at which ‘religion’ is killing many in Nigeria.
The Nobel Prize winner noted that he was not
canvassing for religious studies but the study of
religion, adding that the innocent ones were the ones
who often pay the ultimate price in religious crisis.
The legendary playwright who called for religion to be
critically taught in schools in Nigeria, said, “If we do not
tame religion in Nigeria, religion will kill us.
“Many Nigerians have paid the ultimate price because of
religion and religion is now embedded in our society.
“The innocent ones are the ones who often pay the
ultimate price in religious crisis. Even religious leaders
cannot denounce the murdering acts of religion.
“Religion now induce trauma and anxiety instead of
solace that it claims to give. Religion is the ironic
product of human inadequacy.
“There is a monster always waiting to pounce on
innocent Nigerians under the name of religion,” he
added.
Soyinka said this in the heat of the recent killings of
Christians in Southern Kaduna, an incident which has
continued to fuel mutual mistrust among the diverse
ethnic and religious groups in the country.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye Remains The General Overseer - RCCG Clarifies
The Redeemed Christians Church of God,RCCG, has
refuted the reports that the General Overseer of the
church has resigned.
The church in a press statement signed by Leke
Adeboye, on Saturday said that Pastor Enoch Adejare
Adeboye remains the General Overseer of Redeemed
Christians Church of God Worldwide.
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye remains the General
Overseer, Worldwide of The Redeemed Christian
Church of God, RCCG. Leke Adeboye, the clergyman’s
last son and Personal Assistant said the clarification is
coming on the heels of misrepresentation of Pastor E. A
Adeboye’s announcement at the Annual Ministers
Thanksgiving held at the redemption camp today that
the Church Nigeria is now to be led by Pastor Joseph
Obayemi.
The statement clarified that the latest development is
sequel to the new legal requirements set up by the
Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered
churches, mosques, and CSOs.
The regulation stipulates that heads of non profit
organisations like churches now have a maximum
period of twenty years to lead their organizations while
in retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to
their families.
Leke Adeboye also reiterated that Pastor Funsho
Odesola, will now serve as the new Church Secretary
while Pastor Joseph Adeyokunu, is the new Church
Treasurer. He advised all members of RCCG to
understand this new structure and go about their service
to God and humanity in holiness and soul winning.
He also appealed to members to educate people
around them and not spread inaccurate information
stressing that Pastor E.A Adeboye remains the General
Overseer of RCCG Worldwide.

Catholic Priest Says Homosexuality Is Gift From God , And That The Bible Is Not The Word Of God
A 93 year old Italian priest named Michele de Paolis,
considered to be Italy’s most rebellious priest and
amongst the most universally notorious advocates for
the Catholic Church to change its position on
homosexuality, said:
homosexual love is a gift from (God) no less than
heterosexual.
This same damned heretic said:
The Bible “is” not the word of God
And now, just a few days ago, Francis, whether by his
own will or through some malicious advisors,
celebrated mass with this evil man and then kissed his
hand, as this photo attests:
According to one report:
Francis closed the meeting by kissing the priest’s hand,
a gesture that the far-left newspaper L’immediato
called one “revealing the humility of a great man to
another of the same stature.”
The sodomite supporting priest, Paolis, described in his
Facebook page how the meeting got organized: when
requesting the meeting, he asked the Pope, “Is it
possible?” Francis then responded, “Anything is
possible.
Talk to Cardinal Maradiaga and he shall prepare
everything.” Paolis stated on his Facebook page, “And
then (unbelievably) he kissed my hand! I hugged him
and wept”.
Paolis is “a well-known figure in Italy as a leading
clerical apologist for the homosexualist ideology.” How,
then, could the Pope not know about this man’s evil
behavior? How could he kiss his hand and do mass with
such a reprobate?
This same sodomite priest openly condemns the Bible,
saying that its not the Word of God, and illustrates the
spirit of Antichrist. He wrote in a damned book:
[W]e must overcome the letter of Scripture. It is the
same St. Paul in 2 Corinthians 3:6 who says, “The letter
kills, but the Spirit gives life.” …
That this biblical letter.. killed and continues to kill,
unfortunately, at times, not only morally but also
physically, is a fact. The Bible “is” not the word of God;
the Bible “contains” the word of God. …
Instead of wasting energy in endless controversy the
Church aims to build a Christian spirituality of joyous
acceptance of self, gratitude to God in the knowledge
that homosexual love is a gift from Him no less than
heterosexual.
A spirituality in which we dialogue and we compare to
all, but obey God alone.

Osun Judge Says- Don’t Use Religion To Destabilize Judiciary
A judge of the Osun State High Court, Justice Jide
Falola, on Friday warned parties involved in a lawsuit
over the wearing of hijab in public schools to desist
from encouraging students to defy court order.
It would be recalled that Justice Falola delivered a
judgment allowing female Muslim students in public
schools to wear hijab to school on the 3 June, 2016,
citing their fundamental human rights and religious
belief as reasons for his judgment.
Falola said, “judiciary is a sanctuary that deals with
the law. Whoever handles any case would not allow
his religion to interfere in the process. Some students
were encouraged to defy court judgment. The only
means you have against any judgment is to appeal.
Not to encourage students to defy court judgment”.
He added that, “pictures of these students are on
social and regular media. The students may not be
aware of the implication of what they were being
made to do. These are students we expect to become
lawyers, doctors and judges in the future.”
Falola, who also admonished the media to be
professional in their reportage of proceedings on
hijab suit said “the intention of some tiny section of
the media is to intimidate and subdue the judiciary. I
am employed as a judge and sit in a court of law. May
that day never come when a judge will have to consult
a tiny god before adjudicating on a matter.”
“Reading through the press in the past few days, he
added, one would think the Armageddon has come.
The media should not use their reports to provoke
crisis. They have constitutional roles to play. The
court works on facts and laws placed before it. My
conscience is clear and my hands are not tied. I
applied the law.”

Your View!!! RICH Pastor Or POOR One – Which Would You Rather Worship With?
A lot of people are of the opinion that Pastors and
men of God ought to live a simple life, absent of any
worldly care or material attachment.
This belief has made them distrust clergy who seem
to have acquired wealth, and live a luxurious life.
Whether it is gotten from personal endeavours or
from the church they head, it poses an interesting
subject when the wealth of a minister is called to
question.
So this morning lets try and find out what kind of
pastor people would prefer to worship with RICH
Pastor Or POOR One ?
The Modalities For 2016/2017 Admission Processes Into Higher Institutions
.
.The Modalities for 2016/2017 Admission processes Into Higher institutions as was released by JAMB
.
1- The meeting was held at:
B.O Ukeje Auditorium, Nation Commission for colleges of Education, Central Business District Abuja.... on Tuesday 28th for Federal institutions, Wed 29th for state institutions and Thursday 30th June 2016 for Private institutions....
The meeting was for stakeholders and educational bodies to work out the modalities of screening candidates duly recommended for admission.
.
Due to the National importance of the meeting, it was chaired by the permanent secretary to the ministry of Education, this is to ensure that the honorable minister's directives on the scrapping of postume and the modalities is STRICTLY ADHERED TO.
.
2- ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR ALL INSTITUTIONS-
A- CONVENTIONAL INSTITUTIONS
Universities and colleges of Education
To Admit 60% Science and 40% Arts
.
B- SPECIALIZED INSTITUTIONS
Varsities of technology, Agriculture etc
To admit 100% sciences ( but 80% sciences and 20% others..... For state varsity and colleges of Education)
.
C- Polytechnic and colleges of Technology
To admit 70% Sciences and 30% Arts
.
3- UTME/DIRECT ENTRY ratio
To Admit 90% UTME
". ". 10% DE
Where the 10% for DE is not utilized, UTME candidates should be used in completing the quota
.
4- ISSUES TO NOTE BY ALL Institutions....
The list of candidates that has crossed the minimum cutoff of Jamb but were not admitted into a particular institution should be forwarded back to jamb, as this candidates will be redistributed to other institutions who need them for consideration.....most preferably their 2nd choice institution....
(This means that those who scored the general cutoff say 180 or 200 and above but couldn't reach the departmental cutoff and were not admitted will be forward to other institution for admission consideration, just like eligibility stuff last year)
.
5- STUDY HERE PROPERLY,
In the Meeting, Jamb did some evaluations on processes some universities has been following in the former years as a case study, they used this two varsities which don't normally write pume as a case study but uses screening method: these are:
.
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and its affiliates 2015/2016 mode of admission, Jamb made remarked on the life span of certificates (O-level) which the school indicated as 5yrs only for you to be admitted, and Jamb also made remarks on how much this varsity collects from aspirants
.
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida's who use jamb grading systems like 180- 185 as 20 points, 186-190 as 21 points and So on...
Jamb faulted and made remarks on
1- why they should screen candidates before recommendation and presentation to jamb
2- The weighted course requirements and grades put some students to disadvantage
3- fees charged for screening, HOW MUCH??
.
In the meeting, Jamb made some sampled printouts of some federal universities that do conduct written exams.... Using Futo, unilorin, uniabuja, and Unilag as a case study
.
Using FUTO Mechanical Engineering department as an example, they have the capacity to admit a total number of 193 for that department...
they suppose to admit 87 on merit, 68 for catchments( they have 5 catchments states, so 68 divided by 5 = 13.5, so they suppose to admit 14 for each catchment states), 39 for EDLS (they have 23 EDLS so 39/23 = 1.6~ 2 for each EDLS)....
But they summary/outcome jamb gave for futo was: 92:70:14 for merit: catchment: ELDS
.
Unilorin admission for law which has a capacity of 89 was also used and the outcome was that they admitted a total of 70 instead of 89 using merit, catchments and ElDS....
.
Uniabuja with a capacity of 444 for Economics department admitted just 370
.
Unilag with a capacity of 280 for law department had a summary/outcome of 270 instead of 280...
.
For private institution, they used about 5 institutions as case study, where
Covenant varsity, with 111 capacity for Engineering end up admitting just 45 (I guess due to lack of candidates), Salem varsity Lokoja which have a capacity to admit 20 for computer Engineering ended up admitting just 8 (due to lack of candidates) and so on for the remaining 3 varsities used as sample....
.
For State institutions: Imsu, Lautech, Kaduna. State varsity and 2 others were used, the outcome looked partly like federal uni outcome for those state varsity like imsu who have candidates every year and some outcomes looked like that of private varsity for some state universities that lacks candidates every year...
.
6- After the whole evaluation, JAMB came up with this As the MODALITIES TO BE TAKEN THIS YEAR By All institutions:
PROPOSED JAMB MODEL FOR SCREENING OF RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES*
_1.Screening of candidates shall be for those offered *Provisional Admissions* ONLY.
.
_2.No *written examination* to be conducted._
_.
3.Verification of Course Requirements (O levels or A levels)._
_.
4.Verification of valid JAMB results by checking:_
_i.Online Result Slip_ _ii.Printout_
_iii.Provisional Admission Letter_
_iv.Photo Album_
_v.Check list_
_vi.Biometrics
_
*5.Institutions are free to source from other Course(s) to compensate for SHORTFALL in any of the criteria..
This new method uses a point system that is easy to understand, the whole process is divided into main points as follows;
1) Before a candidate can seat be considered for screening, he/she must have been given provisional admission by Jamb. The Jamb admission checker portal is going to be opened soon for this process, so praying is all you can do now.
2) THE POINT SYSTEM:
This is the most critical part of the process. Jamb's provisional admission no longer makes much sense this year, your points tally will decide your faith. The points are evenly spread out between your O'level and Jamb results to provide a level playing field for all.
In the first case, any candidate who submits only one result which contains his/her relevant subjects already has 10points, the exam could be NECO, WAEC, GCE etc, but any candidate who has 2 sittings only gets 3 points. So this means that aspirants with only one result are at an advantage but only just.
The next point grades fall into the O'level grades. Each grades has it's equivalent point, A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks, so the better your grades the better your chances.
The next point is the UTME scores. Each score range has its equivalent point which can be summarized thus, 180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60 points. Each categories contains 5 Jamb results per point added, for example a candidate with 180-185 gets 20points, a candidate with 186-190 gets 21 points etc.
Points system for DE will be released soon.
3) It then comes down to the fact that fees will still be charged for screening, it depends on the school as well.
4) Catchment and ELDS will still be used!
