About Nathaniel Bassey
Nathaniel Bassey was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He is
from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Uyo local government area in
Akwa-Ibom state, South-South Nigeria. His father, Mr
E Joshua Bassey, was a minister in The Apostolic
Church Bashua Assembly and from an early age he
developed a love for both music and the gospel.
He was inspired when He saw Dr Panam Percy Paul, a
prominent Nigerian gospel music icon in concert over
twenty years ago and since then, His passion for
music has grown and translated into various musical
experiences.
In his early years, he developed a rather uncommon
interest for jazz music and began listening, imitating
and playing to the music of Louis Armstrong, Miles
Davies, Clifford Brown, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz and
Kirk Whalum, Phil Driscoll, Hugh Masakela and other
Jazz luminaries. His zeal for the Jazz form would later
stir him to seek out bands and groups along the Jazz
lines. He then joined a top jazz quartet in Lagos,
Spectrum 4, where he played alongside his childhood
friends.
About that time Nat (Nathaniel Bassey), as he is fondly
called, was approached by one of the most
respectable figures in the Nigerian jazz and music
circle, Elder Steve Rhodes to lead, arguably, the first
Jazz Orchestra in the country – THE STEVE RHODES
ORCHESTRA. He served as band leader and lead
trumpet player for a period of two years and later
moved on with his music career. His peculiar and
particularly soulful trumpet playing style caught the
ears of top Artistes and composers within and outside
the country. Teemac, Ayo Bankole Jr, Cobhams
Asuquo, Wole Oni, Yinka Davies, Adlan Cruise, Funsho
Ogundipe, Peter King, Sotiris Papadopoulus, Paul
Petersen, The French Cultural centre, American
International School, are but a few individuals and
organizations that have sought his musical ingenuity.
As time passed, Nathaniel began sensing a deep
yearning within. There was more to his music than he
thought. He later took time off his numerous
mainstream commitments to seek the Lord under the
Mentorship and guidance of Late
Pastor Eskor Mfon, the former Pastor of The
Redeemed Christian Church Of God, City Of David
Parish. This decision attracted fierce criticisms from
friends, Artistes and colleagues who thought it
unthinkable abandoning what was becoming a thriving
mainstream music career to serve exclusively at a
local church.
As he developed an intimate fellowship with the Holy
Spirit, He then realized that music was more than an
item to fill a space in time but was a fundamental tool
in the praise and worship of the Lord. Soon after, a
music ministry was born and for Nathaniel, the main
thrust was WORSHIP – Munath-someone’s knocking
at the doorsic of heaven – one that ministered
exclusively to the Lord and an avenue through which
HE related with His people. His trumpet playing
coupled with a calm singing style has since ushered
many in concerts, crusades and churches into the
presence of the LORD.
Nathaniel Bassey, a graduate of Politics and
International Relations at the University of London,
also serves as the director of music at the RCCG; The
King’s Court. He has attended music courses in and
out of the country including the Middlesex University
Summer School UK, where he studied popular music
and music business. He writes, sings and produces his
own music and records with diverse groups of
musicians.
Nathaniel Bassey’s debut album Elohim was recorded
and mixed in Cape Town, South Africa in the year
2008. It has been described as a spiritual and Artistic
masterpiece with the hit track “ Someone’s knocking
at the door ” a soft-rock tune currently generating so
much interest locally and internationally.
Album by Nathaniel Bassey includes God of love, The
Son of God, This God is too good.

How Festival Mall Amuwo Odofin promotes culture and lifestyle
Malls are fast becoming a lifestyle for Nigerians, particularly
Lagosians due to the novel setting and ambiance associated
with then. Unlike in the past where consumers are limited to
supermarkets, chain stores and local markets, the mall is
proffering easy and affordable purchases, entertainment and
other services under one roof.
It is not uncommon to see consumers flocking the shopping
centers just to get that mall feeling even if they end up
making no purchase.
In a metropolitan city like Lagos where commerce thrives
effusively, the basic need for Malls cannot be neglected. They
are needed to cater to the varying needs of consumer who
work late in offices, the housewives who are tired of the dirty
markets, the trendy parents who want to give their children
premium entertainment, the co-worker who wants to relax in
a cool spot with friends after work, and the gentlemen who
serenades their ladies with a movie date or surprise shopping.
Despite this emerging trend, there are sparsely enough malls
to cater to the evolving needs of the teeming consumers.
Thus, most malls are crowded and hardly provide comfort
due to hustling and bustling of eager shoppers or fun seekers.
Perhaps, this was what informed UACN Property Development
Company Plc (UPDC) to set up a modern-styled shopping
mall that will provide delightful shopping experience to
residents of Festac Town, Mile 2, Crystal Estate, Anchorage
Estate, Okota and Navy Town among others and create a
destination point for residents of Lagos State. Most shopping
Malls are located on the Island and other focal parts of the
Mainland.
Therefore, Festival Mall is the first of its kind to be opened
along the Lagos/Badagry way which is currently under
renovation. It is expected that at the completion of the ten-
lane highway, that the Mall will complement the ultra-modern
city design proposed by the state government.
Opened for business a year ago, the mall completes the
luxury mix of commerce and hospitality in the mixed hub
setting at Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Lagos, it shares
ground with Golden Tulip Hotel, formerly Durbar Hotel and a
block of 195 apartments known as The Residences.
Stepping into the serene ambiance of the Mall, one is
captivated by the breathtaking layout. The 12,722sqm building
spread across the vast expanse of land in such a way that it
can be approached from two entry points; Mile 2 Jakande
Estate or through the Amuwo-Odofin bridge.
With about 3,320sqm of anchor space and ample car park,
the Mall faces The Residences and the majestic Golden Tulip
Hotel, creating a center of community where fun, Hospitality
and commerce thrive harmoniously.
Inside the Mall is a different world, designed to meet the
varying needs of consumers, the tenant mix is appropriate for
a location like Festac Town, a town whose history is
embedded in the culture of arts and commerce. Thus, naming
the Mall Festival is very appropriate for its location.
Over the years, Festac Town has become an ideal suburb for
most residents living along the Lagos/Badagry expressway.
Although its speed of urbanization has not been exceptionally
fast, it has indeed become an elite haven for people living
within that axis.
Festival Mall however enhances that lifestyle with the tenant
mix. A visit at the Mall showed that the lifestyle center is
improving the culture of lifestyle commerce with its booming
retail outlets.
With an anchor retail shop, Shoprite, residents from far and
near thronged the shop to get amazing discounts on their
purchases, be it groceries or other household commodities on
Black Friday. The shop was filled with carts fighting for space
with human feet.
But, there is absolutely something for everyone in the Mall.
Luxury lifestyles consumers can hop into the timely paced
Timekeepers watch store for designer watches or check into
Montaigne Place for exotic perfumes and other skincare
products. Trendy divas can feed on casa Bella myriad of
products or step into Audacious for classy clothes. For their
accessories, they can choose between Diva House of
Accessories and Accessories to Die 4
Sport lovers or fitness trainers also have sports world which
offers a variety of sports equipment. You can also do a
routine check-up of your health at Health Plus as well as see
an optician at Opticka Vision.
However, entertainment is not left out in the mix. Silverbird
Cinemas with its 4 Screens provide both on and off-screen
fun. Located at the far left of the Mall, that is from the first
entrance, its spacious area provide snooker tables and sitting
areas to pop your corn and sip a drink while waiting for your
movie. In case popcorn doesn’t do it for you, you can give
yourself your sweet tooth a treat at the Cakes and Fro
Yoghurt store close to Silverbird Cinemas.
Seafood lovers can explore the tasty meals at ocean basket
and if you just want to chill out with friends in a relaxed
atmosphere, you can buy a drink at Rhapsody’s.
While the Mall is not a themed park, it offers children a
momentary thrill with its mini car train that drives them
through the length and breadth of the Mall.Funtasticaland
also has an outlet at the Mall for family entertainment.
Upwardly mobile businessmen are not left out in the mélange.
Office Everything, Tesla Mobile among other stores are there
to meet their demands with designated ATM machines for
easy transactions.
What really sets Festival Mall apart besides its captivating
landscape is the tranquil aura it offers with CCTV cameras
and surveillance team monitoring every activity in the mall, a
lifestyle shopper can revel in the entertainment mix the Mall
provides with a peaceful mind.

8 Signs Your Friends Are Making Moves To Destroy Your Relationship With Your Lover
You’re bff’s could be indirectly ruining your relationship
with some subtle actions that you may not notice. Though
this goes two ways, sometimes we could be blind and love
the wrong person and they might just want to be good
friends and save us and also sometimes, well, they just
want to pour sand in your garri.
1. THEY THINK YOUR DATE ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH: Ever
been here? You date someone you really like but your
friends think your date’s obnoxious or ugly? At times like
these, you may start wondering yourself if you’ve made
the wrong choice. And once you start thinking, it’s easy to
mentally turn even a perfect partner into an ugly hag.
2. THEY TALK ABOUT YOUR EX’S WHEN THE NEW DATE IS
AROUND: Past relationships are always sensitive. When
you and your date are hanging out with your friends, do
your friends constantly talk about your exes or about the
way you used to behave around an ex just to have a
laugh?
3. THEY ENCOURAGE YOU TO CHEAT: Your friend may love
one night stands, but they really shouldn’t be trying to
convince you to do the same when you’re in a
relationship. It’s easy to be manipulated by friends you
trust, but sometimes you need to space yourself from
these kinds of friends who don’t want your romantic
relationships to evolve into something better.
4. THEY DISRESPECT YOUR LOVER: Do you feel like your
friends ignore your new lover or treat them disrespectfully
while hanging out together? If you feel it, chances are, it’s
true. When your friends disrespect your date, it reflects
badly on you as a lover.
5. AND THEY DISRESPECT YOU WHEN YOUR LOVER IS
THERE: Do your friends treat you disrespectfully when
you’re with your date? Your friends should help you
impress your date and win a lover over, not make you look
bad. If your friends put you down in front of your lover,
they’re probably jealous or annoyed.
6. THEY EVEN FLIRT WITH YOUR LOVER: There are bad
friends and then there are worse. Friends who flirt with
your new date behind your back are the worst kind. If your
friend tries to put you down, or calls up your lover and
speaks for hours when you’re not around, there’s a good
chance that your friend is looking for ways to break both
of you up and enter the picture.
7. THEY FLIRT WITH YOU WHEN YOUR PARTNER IS
THERE: This is something you’ll have to deal with
immediately. Do any of your friends of the opposite s*x
like you or try to flirt with you in front of your new date? It
doesn’t matter if your flirty friend hits on you on facebook
or on the streets, it’s still going to make your new lover
feel awkward and insecure.
8. AND THEY FLIRT WITH YOUR LOVER: There are bad
friends and then there are worse. Friends who flirt with
your new date behind your back are the worst kind. If your
friend tries to put you down, or calls up your lover and
speaks for hours when you’re not around, there’s a good
chance that your friend is looking for ways to break both
of you up and enter the picture.
