Tottenham’s Striker Vincent Janssen Asks For 12 Months To Prove Himself In The EPL

Vincent Janssen has said he is not
giving up at Tottenham after a
miserable start to life at White Hart
Lane, saying he is giving himself a
year to prove himself.

“I have given myself 12 months to succeed in the
Premier League with Tottenham and those 12 months
are not over yet,” he told Dutch newspaper De
Telegraaf .

“The level is really high here. Up until last week we
were second in the league. Don’t forget I had only
played one season at the highest level in Holland
when Spurs bought me from AZ Alkmaar.

“In a short period of time I have made some big steps
forward in my career. I’m not going to throw the towel
in just because things are not going great for the first
time in my career. I am jumping to put the Spurs shirt
on, but I will have to prove to the coach that I deserve
to play.”

Spurs were not interested in selling the forward last
month and Janssen himself says he did not want to
move on so soon either.

“At one point I was asked if I was open to another
club but that has never been an option for me,” he
said.

“I’m only here for half a year and can still develop well
myself. “I agree with [Liverpool’s] Gini Wijnaldium; It’s
a very different intensity here. You feel that it is
physically stronger. They are all great players and the
level is very high.”
