Super Eagles coach Rohr off to Gabon for AFCON
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will leave today for
AFCON 2017 in Gabon, where he will be a pundit for a
French television channel.
Nigeria failed to qualify for a second straight AFCON
and so Rohr will hope to use Gabon 2017 to monitor the
country’s 2018 World Cup rivals, Cameroon and Algeria,
at the tournament.
“It will be interesting to see the best teams in Africa in
Gabon,” he said.
“I will analyse the opening game on Saturday between
Gabon and Guinea Bissau as well as the match between
Cameroon and Burkina Faso.”
Nigeria will also know today who will be their opponents
for the qualifying series for 2019 AFCON to be hosted
by Cameroon.
The qualifiers will begin by the end of March.
