The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on
Thursday reshuffled five standing committees in the
Senate.
The reshufflement saw former Senate Leader, Senator
Ali Ndume, appointed as the Chairman of the Senate
Committee on the Independent National Electoral
Commission.
Others appointed committees Chairmen are Senator
Gorge Sekibo as Chairman, Committee on Interior;
Senator Abba Kyari as Chairman, Committee on
Defence; Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman, Committee
on Federal Emergency Road Maintenance Agency; and
Senator Aitai Idoko as Chairman, Sustainable
Development Goals.
The reshuffling of the five Standing Committees in the
Senate saw the All Progressives Congress getting three
chairmanship slots, while the Peoples Democratic Party
got two.
The new development showed that two Standing
Committees have been created.
These are FERMA and SDG.
It brings to 58 the number of Standing Committees in
the Senate.
However, the Senate Books has 55 recognized Standing
Committees.
