The Senator representing Ogun Central in the National
Assembly, Senator Lanre Tejuoso, has described the
reconciliatory move by the Chairman, All Progressives
Congress Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha, as an
effort to wake the ruling party from political slumber.
The lawmaker who is a member of the All Progressives
Congress, in an interview with newsmen after plenary
on Thursday said the crisis which rocked the party
after it displaced the Peoples Democratic Party during
the 2015 general election would set a new foundation.
Speaking bluntly and critically about the performance
of his party, the lawmaker said it was reflective of a
lack of preparedness to assume status as Nigeria’s
ruling party.
He said: “These are problems that will make the unity
stronger and the party built on the new foundation;
because it is a new foundation.
“Imagine having victory after how many years of
struggling for it. In their subconscious they were not
prepared for it because they have been loosing, so
really it was like a dream come true. So, now they are
waking up from the dream, that yes we have this
foundation to lay.
“It is similar to what happened to the PDP sixteen
years ago, though theirs was not as difficult because
there was power transition from the military to
democracy.
“They had a better chance of winning because they
campaigned and stood a better chance of winning as
the biggest party, unlike APC which was in the
opposition that took over from a ruling party,” Senator
Tejuoso added.
