This intervention of Cowbell and more recently through the Cowbellpedia initiative, has provided a platform to identify, nurture and reward excellence in Mathematics.
This platform continues to arouse and re-awaken the interest of students in Mathematics at the secondary school level and further reinforce the importance of the subject area. 2018 marks a major milestone as Cowbell celebrates its 20th year relationship with Mathematics.
At a press briefing, held in Lagos, theManaging Director, Promasidor Nigeria – Mr. Anders Einarsson announced some key initiatives to celebrate #CowbellAndMathsAt20:
1.The national winners’ prize money has been doubled to N2,000,000 (Two million naira) withan all-expense paid educational excursion outside the country while the 1st and 2nd runners up will receive N1,500,000 (One million Five hundred thousand naira) and N1,000,000 (One Million naira) respectively.
2. The teachers of the top prize winners will be awarded N500,000 (Five hundred thousand naira) whilethose of the first and second runners-up will receive N400,000 (Four hundred thousand naira) and N300,000 (Three hundred thousandnaira) respectively.Mr Anders also mentioned that the company is launching the Cowbellpedia Compendium, which is a compilation of solved questions from the past Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz Show editions for each category.
This is to improve proficiency of students in Mathematics.In rounding up the event, the Marketing Manager, Promasidor Nigeria: Mr. Abiodun Ayodeji announced that the first stage examination will be coming up on Saturday, February 17, 2018 while registration closes on February 11, 2018.Mr Abiodun mentioned that Registration is FREE and strictly online.
It is open to full-time students in JSS 3 and SSS 2 from 10to 18 years of age in public and private schools in Nigeria.
He also reiterated the company’s stand on encouraging girl child education andappealed to mixed secondary schools to nominate minimum of two (2) girls for each category.
