Wickedness! Angry 33-Year-Old Man

A man who obviously got really enraged with his wife
over a disagreement, has shown his anger in a really
horrifying manner.

Kema Akejelu, a 33-year-old man, has been dragged to
court.

The woman on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Chief
Magistrates’ Court accused of beating up his wife and
throwing her off a storey building.

The accused, a carpenter, who resides at Seun Nwachi
St., Idimu, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a two-count
charge bordering on assault.

The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha told the court that
the offence was committed on Nov. 13 at the accused’s
residence during a fight between the accused and his
wife, Oghenekvewe over her coming back home late.

“The accused beat up his wife and pushed her from a
storey building which caused her two ankles to dislocate,
” he said.

The offences contravened Sections 170 and 171 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty, and the Chief
Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi granted him bail in the
sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case to Feb. 15, for mention

EFCC Reacts To Magu's Sack Allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
has debunked rumours that its Acting Chairman, Mr
Ibrahim Magu, has been removed from office. A national
newspaper, the Guardian, on Saturday reported that
President Muhammadu Buhari removed Magu.

“Not true”, spokesman of the commission, Mr Wilson
Uwujaren, said in response to an SMS enquiry by the
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday
morning.

The rumour of Magu’s removal has also hit the social
media and some traditional media websites in the early
hours of Saturday.

Quoting anonymous sources, The Guardian said that
Ibrahim Magu, may have finally been removed from
office.

It said a source said Magu’s redeployment back to
Nigerian Police Force (NPF) was to pave way for a fresh
person to be presented by President Muhammadu Buhari
as the nominee to head the anti-graft agency before the
Senate.

It said it gathered that to make the situation look like a
routine exercise, some senior Police officers would be re-
deployed by the Police hierarchy to resume as
conventional Police officers.

It was equally reliably gathered yesterday that the
Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of
Justice, Abubakar Malami, has already issued a leter to
Magu on the development and directed that he hands
over to the Director of Operations in the Commission.

Magu’s nomination was recently rejected by the Senate
following allegation of graft levelled against him by the
Department of State Security Service (DSS).

The Senate had rejected the nomination of Mr Ibrahim
Magu as Substantive Chairman of the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Chairman of Senate Committee on Media and Public
Affairs, Sen. Sabi Abdullahi, disclosed this to journalists in
Abuja.

Abdullahi said that the rejection of Magu’s nomination
was based on security reports available to the senate.

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari will be
communicated accordingly.

“The Senate wishes to inform the general public that
based on security reports available to the senate, it
cannot proceed and confirm the nomination of Ibrahim
Magu as the Executive Chairman of EFCC.

“Accordingly, the Senate hereby rejects the said
nomination and has returned it to Mr President for further
action,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that
nomination of other members of the commission sent for
confirmation was also not confirmed at plenary. The
committee chairman declined further comments on the
screening of the nominees.

The Senate had at the resumption of plenary gone into a
two hour executive session with Magu but the meeting
ended in a deadlock.

NAN recalls that the Presidency had in July written the
Senate, seeking the screening and confirmation of Magu
as Substantive Chairman of EFCC.

Buhari appointed Magu Acting Chairman of the
commission after the removal of Mr Ibrahim Lamorde on
Nov. 9, 2015. Before his appointment as the acting
chairman, Magu was the Head of Economic Governance
Unit of the commission.

Buhari Afraid Of Naira Devaluation Because That Was Why He Was Overthrown In 1984

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will not
support any move to devalue the naira and increase fuel
price, TheCable reports.

The president made this known in Abuja on Friday night
at the 2016 regimental dinner organised by the
presidential brigade of guards. The annual event is
organised to mark the end of drilling year of the
commission – and it is also an opportunity for officers to
“mingle” with their commanders.

Buhari said that his stance against the devaluation of the
naira and fuel price increase precipitated his overthrow as
military head of state in 1985.

“I have resisted the devaluation of the naira, increase of
the petroleum products, among others,” he told the
soldiers and officers.

“When I was military head of state, I rejected similar
advice by the IMF and World Bank to devalue the naira.

“I refused and gave my reasons and the next thing I knew
I was removed and detained for three and a half years.

“As a civilian president, I will do my best and I’m telling
you all these because you are part of the leadership of
this great country and God willing we will remain great,”
he added.

At present, the official exchange rate of the naira is
N300/$1, while it is N495/$1 at the black market. It was
officially N197/$1 when Buhari assumed office in May
2015.

The pump price of petrol was N86.50 and has increased
to N145.

Assistant Commissioner Of Police Commits Suicide In Edo

An Assistant Commissioner of Police, identified as one
Christopher Osakue, has reportedly committed suicide
in Benin, the Edo State capital.

It was gathered that the late Osakue allegedly shot
himself in the head with his service pistol in his
residence located on Upper Sokponba on Wednesday.

The deceased was said to have sent a woman and a
little boy, said to be living with him, on an errand before
killing himself.

It was also learnt that he did not leave any suicide note
behind.

The late police officer was said to be in charge of
training and development at the state police command
after his recent posting from Ondo State.

It was gathered that the ACP had earlier suffered a
partial stroke a few years back and was gradually
recovering from it before the incident occurred.

A source in the area disclosed that a gunshot from the
residence of the deceased was heard at about 5pm on
December 28.

The source said, “A neighbour said she heard a gunshot
inside the ACP’s residence about 5pm that fateful
Wednesday.

“She added that after the sound of the gun, a
frightening silence engulfed the entire building.”

Security operatives from the Ugbekun police division
were said to have later stormed his residence.

It was further learnt that the late Osakue had played
host to some youths in his area last Christmas.

The Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, described
the senior police officer’s death as a case of suicide.

Gwandu also explained that the pistol which he
allegedly used to commit the act was signed for at the
Ondo State Police command before he was posted to
Edo.

Buhari Congratulates Aba Monarch At 88

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday felicitated with
the Enyi 1 of Aba, Dr. Isaac A. Ikonne, as he turns 88
years on Sunday.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media
and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President joined the
government and people of Abia State, the Abia State
Traditional Council and Ohaneze Ndigbo in celebrating
the octogenarian.

He observed that the monarch’s 42 years reign has
witnessed tremendous improvement in community
relations, peace and prosperity of his domain, Aba.

The statement read, “As one of the oldest traditional
rulers in the South East and the first to receive staff of
office in the old Imo State, President Buhari extols the
sterling leadership qualities of the royal father, which had
over the years earned him the position of the Chairman
of Ohaneze Ndigbo Traditional Rulers, and other
numerous recognitions and awards.

“The President affirms that Eze Ikonne’s entrepreneurial
spirit and large heartedness in helping the underprivileged
made him an exemplar to younger traditional rulers, also
acknowledging that the royal father demonstrated
uncommon loyalty, commitment and patriotism in nation
building by counseling many governments, and mobilising
his citizenry for civic duties.

“President Buhari prays that the almighty God will grant
the royal father longer life, good health and more wisdom
to serve his people and humanity.”

Australia Kicks Off Global New Year Celebration With Fireworks

Australia rang in the new year Sunday with a spectacular
fireworks display in Sydney, sending rainbow-coloured
showers into the night sky and defying the global terror
attacks that cast a pall over 2016.

Around 1.5 million people packed Australia’s biggest city
to watch as the midnight fireworks erupted from Sydney
Harbour Bridge, with the extravaganza beamed to
television sets and phones across the world.

The visual feast paid tribute to some of the international
musical legends who died this year, including David
Bowie and Prince, with purple rain pouring off the bridge
in an early display and firework “stars” soaring high above
the harbour.

2016 has seen repeated bloodshed, most recently a
deadly truck attack at a Berlin Christmas market, a similar
incident on Bastille Day in France that killed 86, and
atrocities in Turkey and the Middle East.

But the New South Wales state premier urged “business
as usual”, as a larger-than-usual crowd gathered due to
the weekend timing and warm weather.

“My encouragement to everyone is to enjoy New Year’s
Eve… in the knowledge that police are doing everything
they can to keep us safe,” Premier Mike Baird said.

Around 2,000 extra officers have been deployed in
Sydney after a man was arrested for allegedly making
online threats against the celebrations.

There were a number of other reported threats this
holiday period, in Asia-Pacific and elsewhere.

In Melbourne, police foiled a “significant” Islamic State-
inspired Christmas Day terror plot.
Indonesia said it foiled plans by an IS-linked group for a
Christmas-time suicide bombing, and 52 died in the
Philippines in bomb attacks blamed on Islamist militants.

Israel on Friday issued a warning of imminent “terrorist
attacks” to tourists and western targets in India.

Despite the terror fears, revellers in Hong Kong and
Taipei were expected to throng city streets to watch
firework performances.

In Japan, shoppers filled markets to buy tuna and crabs —
seen as expensive items for special feasts — for New
Year’s Day family gatherings.

DHQ Says Shekau ’s End Near , 15 Terrorists Killed In Borno

The Defence Headquarters, Abuja, has said that the
days of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, are
numbered, calling on his remaining members to
surrender to the troops.

This is just as no fewer than 15 Boko Haram insurgents
were killed by troops on Friday in a battle at Rann in
Borno State.

Sources said five soldiers were also critically injured.

The Director, Defence Information, Brig.Gen. Rabe
Abubakar, in an interview with our correspondent, said
arrested Boko Haram members were already supplying
the military with vital information.

Abubakar added that Boko Haram members should not
allow Shekau to deceive them any longer, as his days
were numbered.

He said, “The Boko Haram insurgents are applying
medicine after death. After all, we are aware that such
video was done before we took over Sambisa Forest.

Therefore, the release of the video is not surprising to
us.

“The insurgents are defeated and those arrested are
giving us the vital information that will aid our mop-up
operations in the area.

“We are going to convert the forest to a training camp
soon. Shekau is a coward and we will trail him to
anywhere he is hiding. He is definitely not in the
Sambisa Forest of Borno State. We are calling on the
remnants of the Boko Haram sect to surrender for their
safety before it is late. They should not allow Shekau to
deceive them as his days are numbered.

The public
should disregard all the antics of the terrorists.”

In the battle at Rann, which reportedly started as a gun
fight between troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole and
the insurgents at about 6am, it was learnt that no fewer
than 15 of the Boko Haram members were killed.

A military source said troops also recovered weapons
from the dead insurgents.

He said, “The gun battle lasted for about three hours.

The terrorists actually planned to launch a surprise
attack on the soldiers. Fortunately, the insurgents were
the more hit.

“Troops from the 3 and 112 task force battalions in
Rann were the soldiers who repelled the attack.

Weapons ranging from AK 47 rifles, magazines, FN
rifles to Improvised Explosive Devices were recovered
from the insurgents.”

Court Orders Osun CP To Arrest Oluwo

A magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State has
ordered the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr.

Fimihan Adeoye, to arrest the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba
Abdulrasheed Akanbi, and bring him to court on January 6,
2017.

The magistrate, Olusola Aluko, gave the fresh order on
Friday when the case involving the monarch came up for
hearing again.

He said he was surprised that the police commissioner had
not arrested Oluwo since he first issued the bench warrant
of arrest against the first class monarch.

Aluko expressed
dismay that the police commissioner had not effected the
bench warrant of arrest he had issued against the
monarch, which he said he had signed and handed over to
an officer of the state police command.

He said, “I am baffled that the commissioner of police has
not done his duty. I am also surprised by his claim that he
was unaware of the bench warrant. That must be a joke of
the century. I, therefore, order him to immediately arrest
the respondent.

“I am not joking with my order. He (Akanbi) should be
arrested and brought to this court on Friday, January 6,
2017. The sanctity of the judiciary must be protected.”

Aluko stated that the case instituted by the Oluwo Oke of
Iwo Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye, against Akanbi before his
court was not a chieftaincy case but a criminal one.

He said, “I will like to say that the matter before me was
filed based on sections 35, 37 and 38 of the criminal
procedures of Osun State.

“In a criminal case such as this, a defendant must appear
in court. This court is not trying a chieftaincy matter. It is
the law that once an order is made, to prevent anarchy,
such an order must be obeyed.

“It is to be noted that an order was first made by my
brother, Magistrate Omisade of Iwo jurisdiction before the
case was transferred here by fiat and I had asked him
(Akanbi) three times to appear before this court.”

It will be recalled that the magistrate had on December 2
threatened to issue a bench warrant against the Oluwo if
he failed to appear before him on December 20, but the
monarch failed to appear before the court.

The magistrate then issued a bench warrant against the
monarch on December 20 but the monarch allegedly said
he would not appear before the magistrate.

Aluko had also issued a fresh bench warrant against the
monarch on Wednesday for contempt of court but the
monarch still did not appear on Friday.

The Oluwo had earlier told our correspondent in an
interview that he would not appear before the magistrate,
but subsequent efforts to get his reaction to the fresh
order of arrest were not successful as calls put across to
his telephone did not connect.

The police commissioner, when contacted on the
telephone by our correspondent after the fresh court order,
said he was not aware of it.

Nigerian Conjoined Twins Celebrate Christmas With Family After Surgery ( Pics )

The formerly conjoined Ayeni twins celebrated their first
Christmas as separated twins after a successful operation
in the United States of America. Miracle and Testimony
Ayeni, from Nigeria, were conjoined at the pelvis.

The girls, who turned one today, underwent an 18-hour
operation at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis,
Tennessee, on November 7 and 8.

They arrived in the US on June 28 with their parents
Samuel Olusegun Ayeni and Mary Abiodun Ayeni, their
older sister, and their pastor after being offered free
flights from a Nigerian airline Arik Air.

It was their only hope at separating the girls, after trying
and failing to find a hospital nearby that could carry out
the operation. Finally, after months of research, they were
referred to Le Bonheur, whose surgeons offered to do the
life-saving operation free of charge.

The incredibly delicate operation to separate Jadon and
Anias McDonald took 27 hours, and the lead surgeon has
admitted he considered stopping halfway through.

Disagree or agree.. Check out LIB's player, manager and World Football Team of the year

All football lovers will agree, that 2016 has been a very
eventful year in the world of football, and whether it was the
EPL, Laliga, Euro Cup, Copa America, Rio Olympics,
Champions league and even women's  and youth
tournaments, soccer fanatics were glued to their Tv sets as
they watched their favorite players fight for glory on the pitch.

Not surprisingly, no Nigerian player made the list, but Mikel
Obi made the substitute bench for his exploits at Rio 2016,
Ballon d'or winner C.Ronaldo was included for his heroics at
Euro 2016 with Portugal and champions league success with
Real Madrid while Jamie Vardy starts upfront in my team of
the year.

See the World football team of the year 2016 below, and say
whether you agree or not (with reasons)..
Formation : 4-3-3

Goalkeeper : David De Gea: His breathtaking saves were the
major reason Man U ended in top 7 last season and also won
the F.A cupand what makes his success so remarkable is the
fact that he turned around to snub a Madrid move and
refocused on his Old Trafford career. De Gea simply put,
makes saves, dives and flies that even birds could dream of,
no wonder he's been votes Man U's player of the season for
three years in a row.

Defenders : Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Wes Morgan, Marcelo
Sergio Ramos' inclusion is no-brainer actually! Apart from the
fact he's a defensive stalwart, a no-nonsense defender who
can actually play three different positions, his very crucial
goals for Real Madrid have helped the club win the
Champions league, Club World Cup and very crucial matches.

Wes Morgan together with Huth helped Leicester city have a
defensive line up that ensured the won the EPL title. Morgan
is highly under-appreciated, but real football lovers know a
good defender when they see one.

Pepe, with his full throttle approach towards defending,
helped Portugal and Real Madrid win the Euros and
champions league while Marcelo is undoubtedly still the best
left full back in the world.

Midfielders :  N'Golo Kante, Kevin De Bruyne, Iniesta
This was the hardest category to choose because there are a
lot of talented footballers that play in midfield who deserve to
be here but aren't. De Bruyne can easily be classed among
the best midfielders in the world this 2016 for his great
performances with Belgium and most especially Man City
who he helped to win the League cup.

Kante, the bedrock and solidity of Leicester city in their title
winning season is undoubtedly the best defensive midfielder
in world football at the moment. He's now playing for Chelsea
and the likes of Mikel Obi, Matic and Oscar had to be
sacrificed because of how well he shields the defence line for
Chelsea, and France too! . Iniesta, a midfield general is
included for his title winning forays in midfield for Barcelona
even though he will admit it's not been the best of years for
Barcelona or Spain.

Strikers : Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Vardy , Lionel Messi
Jamie Vardy- from being a technician making medical splints
in 2006, to the man who led Leicester city to a record
breaking premier league title, beating Van Nistelrooy's goals
record in the process. He deserves to be in this team of the
year list.

Lionel Messi had a not too good year judging by his
standards, but led Barca to
La Liga and Copa Del Rey titles. He retired from national duty
after failing to lead Argentia to national glory at Copa America
but later revoked his retirement. For scoring 51 goals in 2016,
he makes the team of the year list.

Coach of the year : Claudio Ranieri (Leicester city)/
Fernando Santos (Portugal)
Claudio Ranieri is tied with Fernando Santos in this category
for two reasons;

1. They could have achieved less and no one would have
complained or blamed them for doing so.

2. They both won very important trophies with squads that
were average except one or two star players. They injected
the spirit of unity, passion and never-say-die attitude into
their players, hence their team's success.
Player of the year : Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Portugal)-
The Real Madrid player really has no competition in the world
of football this year. Apart from winning the UEFA Champions
league and Euro Cup with Real Madrid and Portugal
respectively, he also won the Club World Cup in Japan this
December and has also won the 2016 Ballon D'or award.

He also showed exceptional leadership qualities during the
Euro cup finals, as he came back to the pitch to motivate/
coach his teammates till the last minute despite being
stretchered off the pitch for a serious knee injury. Exceptional
player!

Team of the year Substitutes/bench:

Laurent Koschielny (France/Arsenal),Gareth Bale (Real
Madrid/Wales), Antoinne Griezmann (France/ Atl. Madrid),
Iniesta (Barcelona/Spain), Leonardo Bonnucci (Juventus/
Italy), Luis Suarez (Barcelona/Uruguay), Neymar (Barcelona/
Brazil), Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal/Chile), Manuel Neuer
(B.Munich, Germany), Mikel Obi (Nigeria/Chelsea), Riyad
Mahrez (Leicester City/ Algeria), Paul Pogba (Juventus/Man
U/ France)Luka Modric (Real Madrid/Croatia), Andres Gomes
(Portugal/Barca). Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea/ Belgium), Zlatan
Ibrahimovic (PSG/ Man U/ Sweden)

SHOCKER ! Two Dead Over N500 To Kill Cow

Tragedy struck New Garriki Market, Awkunanaw, Enugu
when two men lost their lives because of N500.00 to kill
cow.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State
Command of the Nigeria Police, Ebere Amaraizu, who
confirmed the incident said that a detachment of police
personnel was immediately sent to the market to maintain
peace and order.

Our source reliably gathered that the unfortunate incident
took place Wednesday when a man bought a cow at the
market and paid N500 for the slaughtering and this
generated controversy between two slaughter men, one
Hausa and one Igbo man.

One of the deceased, an Igbo man was said to have
given the Fulani-Hausa man N400.

In a scuffle that ensued as a result of who should take
the lion share, the Fulani-Hausa man, drew a dager and
stabbed him in the stomach.

It was gathered when the Igbomen there saw what
happened, they pounced on the Fulani-Hausa man and
beat him to a pulp and he gave up the ghost shortly after
while the Igboman he stabbed died at a hospital shortly
after.

Because there is a police post in the market, more police
men and even military officers were drafted immediately
to maintain peace in the market and all activities came to
a halt until Thursday morning.

A trader in the market told 247ureports.com that the
Hausa-Fulani man first push the Igboman before he
brought out his dagger and stabbed him.

“They were quarreling over the money when all of a
sudden, the Northerner pushed the Igboman and stabbed
him in the stomach. The man held his stomach with one
hand and began to chase his assailant and fainted later.

“When people saw him fall, they caught the man and beat
him to a pulp before help could come but he could not
make it because he died shortly after,” the source
narrated.

One Abubakar Yusuf who spoke on the incident,
condemned his fellow northerner for stabbing somebody
over a quarrel.

“This idea of stabbing somebody is too typical of the
northerners and it is not good. They do it out of
ignorance,” he said.

PPRO, Sp Amaraizu, when contacted said the
commissioner of Police immediately send men to the
area to maintain peace.

Meanwhile, at the time our correspondent visited the
scene, peace has returned to the market as people were
going about their business and keke riders were bringing
passenger in and out of the market.

Photos: 72 year old man apprehended with female human skull in Osun

72 year old, Idris Ajao, has been arrested by the Osun State
police command for being in possession of a female human
skull. Ajao who claims to be bricklayer, was arrested today
while transporting the human part to Iwo.

When interrogated, he said a herbalist by the name Tajudeen
Jawesola, had asked him to exhume skulls from graves in a
cemetery in return for N10,000.

He was caught while exhuming one of the corpse buried in the
cemetery. He blamed his act on the devil, saying it was a "big
mistake"

“It was Jawesola that asked me to get the human skull
for him. Everybody knows Jawesola to be a herbalist and
he wanted to use the human skull to do his work. He
said he would give me N10, 000. I should not have
listened to him. It is a mistake”he said

President Buhari today signed the Endangered Species
Control Bill into law. The Senior Special Assistant to the

sent to him for his consent.

The Endangered Species Control bill is to discourage
