Yobe Govt. rehabilitates GGSS Nguru

Yobe Government has started rehabilitating 42-year-old
Government Girls Secondary School Nguru in an effort to
create conducive learning environment for girls in the
state.

The state Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, made this
known in Nguru, Yobe, on Wednesday while inspecting
rehabilitation of structures in the school.

He said the school had not been rehabilitated since its
establishment in 1975.

He added that “no work was done on the structures to
upgrade and expand it to meet increasing students’
population.

Gaidam, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of
work done so far, assured that government would
provide equipment and instructional materials to improve
teaching and learning in the school.

He said “government will provide furniture for the newly
renovated classrooms, hostels and laboratory equipment
and all necessary needs to improve the quality of
education in the state.

“We will also employ more qualified teachers in all
subjects taught in the school.”

The governor urged teachers and students in to dedicate
themselves to teaching and learning to justify
government investments in education.

The Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Lamin
Mohammed, said the state government invested over
N515 million in the rehabilitation of classrooms, hostel
and staff accommodation, laboratories and
administrative block in the school.
