Nigeria to experience solar eclipse tomorrow, public advised to remain calm

A solar eclipse will occur in Nigeria on Thursday,
September 1, between the hours of 7:15am and 10:03am
with slight variations in actual timing across the country,
the National Space Research and Development Agency
(NSRDA) said.

A press statement by the Head of Media and Corporate
Communications, Dr Felix Ale, appealed to the general
public not to panic or attach any spiritual interpretations to
this event. He said the eclipse cannot be observed with
naked eyes, as this could cause damage.

In the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, there will be a partial
eclipse, with an obscurity of 60 per cent, and the first
contact at about 7:17am, with maximum eclipse at 8:32am
and end at 10:00am.

Lagos will experience its first contact with the eclipse at
7:15am, with a maximum eclipse occurring at 8:32am and
ending at about 10:00am. The Agency has arranged a
viewing centre tomorrow to enable members of the public,
pupils and students from various schools to view the
eclipse using specially designed viewing instruments
provided by the space Agency.

The viewing centre which has been set up by the Agency
will be open to the public on Thursday 1st September, 2016
from 6:45am for school pupils and students to observe the
annular eclipse as part of its continuous programmes to

5 Star Qualities Wizkid Possess That Upcoming Artistes Needs To Learn From

Wizkid rise from obscurity to stardom is one that would
make you want to work even harder but Wizkid is no
superhuman neither does he have two heads or have
the best voice in Nigeria, but because he made use of
what he has within and all that surrounds him.

To be successful in the music industry you need more
than just talent and money for you to blow. Wizkid is
one of those successful artiste that knows how to play
his cards right and he always comes out on top even
when the media tries to bring him down.

Every up and coming artistes who is aiming to reach the
height of Wizkid and want to get all the hype and
exposure should read this article because you would
definitely learn one or two things which you can use to
improve yourself. Learn from people who have been
there and seen it all in order to walk in the same
footstep of their success. Enjoy reading and don’t
forget to leave your comment if you have anything you
want to contribute.

1. Be Humble

Right from the days of ‘Holla at your boy’ till now,
Wizkid is still one of the most humble artiste you will
ever find in this country, looking at all the things he has
accomplished and all the fame and fortune he has
accrued for himself. Any other artistes in his shoes
would fill like a god and would begin to act like a King
among st his peers and colleagues. Wizkid still hangs
out with his friends and fans anytime he is in the
country and he respects everyone accordingly.
When he was still in EME he was the starboy in the team
but he still flowed with everyone and made music with
any artistes that wants him on their song. Wizkid has
never been reported to be rude to anyone before and
this trait is what has been bringing him favour and
making people to like him the more.
If you are an upcoming artiste and you are already
feeling proud and important with yourself because you
have a few fans, then you need to rethink and re-
strategize because people would only help you when
you are humble and friendly.

2. Be Unique/Standout

Take a look at all the big artistes in Nigeria today from
Adekunle Gold, Falz, Wizkid, 2Face Idibia, Olamide, Simi
and Banky W you would realize that all these artistes
have something unique about themselves both in their
music and in their style. If you are an upcoming artistes
learn from Wizkid because he is unique from other
artistes. He recreated his own style of music from the
already existing afrobeat and afrohiphop genre and
owned his sound which other artistes now tries to copy.
There can never be another Wizkid so also there can
never be another you. You are also unique, try and find
that special thing about you that others don’t have and
use it to your advantage. Let people be amazed when
they listen to your music or wowed when they see your
performance on stage. Small Doctor is a lovely
example of a unique artiste who created his own niche
and today he is making a lot of money from it. So be
you and you alone. Be unique!!!!

3. Be Fashionable

Wizkid is still one of Nigeria’s most fashionable artiste
and he will always be because he pays total attention to
his dressing and always sets new trends. You can never
catch Wizkid dressing shabbily, he is always on point in
his dressing. Just like the popular saying “You are
addressed from the way you are dressed”. People
would come to you and want to associate with you when
you are well dressed. Nobody wants to associate
anyone who doesn’t look good. So as an artiste you can
only attract favour and important people who can help
your musical career when you are dressed well and
look like a star even when you are not. Good attracts
good, while bad attracts bad, it’s a normal theory which
you can’t discard. So if you want to make it fast in the
music industry you need to start dressing like a
superstar that you want to become.

4. Be Controversial

These days controversies sells and it sells faster than
any other marketing mechanism. You hardly find any
top artistes who is not controversial, is it Wizkid?,
Davido?, 2Face Idibia?, Olamide? or even Tiwa Savage?.
This is just to show you that in other to be a big star in
the industry you will need to have something that your
fans can talk about.
Nigerians like gossips and they follow only the ones
that can give them plenty of it. Wizkid is very
controversial, from his baby mama story, to his bashing
of his expensive cars and getting a replacement some
days after to dating top female celebrities and
some social media fights with top celebrities etc.
So as an upcoming artistes you need to put some spice
into your brand for people to keep talking about you.
Singing and performing is not everything but adding a
few spice to your brand goes a long way to keep you
relevant.

5. Be Social Media Savvy

If you want to be a celebrity then you need to start
learning to put yourself and your activities in the public
eyes. And the only way to do this is to make use of your
social media platforms like facebook, twitter,
instagram, youtube, google plus and other social media
sites. Wizkid doesn’t joke with his social media that a
day hardly goes by without him posting something on
any of his social media accounts.

Try and be like Wizkid even with his busy schedule he
still finds time to share a picture of himself with his
fans just to always keep the connection with them. If he
can do it how much you who is not as busy as he is.
Being a star musician is not a one day job you need to
work really hard. If you are an aspiring artistes and you
don’t have at least two or three of these social media
accounts; facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat,
youtube and soundcloud then you are not yet ready for
the task of being a superstar.

Dear LIB men, would you agree to a threesome if your girlfriend suggested it?

"My birthday is next weekend and my girlfriend
shocked me with a request/question. She asked me
if I would be interested in a threesome with her and
a friend (female). She said it's her special birthday
present to me and it's one off. Should I accept it?
Though I must say that I am suspicious of her
motives as I know her to be a very jealous partner
and wonder why she's now willing to share me"

Chris Brown accuser was stripped of beauty queen crown for lying

The woman who got Chris Brown arrested yesterday got
stripped of her beauty pageant crown earlier this year.
TMZ reports below...

Baylee Curran, the woman claiming Chris pulled a
gun on her, was crowned Miss California Regional
2016, but 2 months later pageant officials were fed
up with her and dethroned her. She was stripped in
part because of nude photos that surfaced, and
pageant officials say she lied and said it wasn't her.

An official tells TMZ, shortly after she won the title
someone sent nude photos to the pageant director, who
confronted Baylee, saying, "This is not what the pageant
stands for." We're told Baylee insisted it was not her in the
photos.

The director told her she'd give her another chance, but
we're told Baylee repeatedly screwed up and deceived
them. She would fail to show for community functions ...
while photographers were tagging photos of her frolicking
on a boat. She was also MIA for events ... choosing various
photo shoots instead.

The director had enough 2 months into her reign, and told
Baylee she was stripping her of her crown, but Baylee shot
back, "You're the director. You can make or bend the rules.

I'm keeping the crown and we can move on."

She still hasn't returned the crown.

ASUU Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Non- Implementation Of FG/ASUU Agreement

ASUU Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Non- Implementation Of FG/ASUU Agreement Posted: 31-Aug-2016 10:38:55 into General by myschool paul for school | 4 Comments The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike if the Federal Government refuses to implement the 2009 agreement.

This was disclosed by the ASUU Lagos Zone Coordinator, Prof. Olusoji Sowande. According to him the union have decided on to this path since all efforts to get the federal government to implement the agreement has proved abortive. He mentioned that embarking on a strike action is not a favorable choice as it is the students and lecturers that bear the brunt of it more, but it seems that is the only language that the Nigerian government seems to respect and listen to. He recalled a meeting the union had with the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu over the issue during which the minister promised that the issue will be resolved within 2 weeks but up till now nothing has been done. H

e urged well meaning Nigerians and stake holders to prevail on the Government to implement the agreement to avoid the impending crisis that is about to bedevil the nation's university system.

Abeg O!! Women In Akwa Ibom Threaten To Protest N**e Against Federal Government

Women of Nsit Ibom in Obotim Nsit community, Nsit
Ibom area, Akwa-Ibom State have vowed to protest
unclad to summon the wrath of the gods against
government and a gas company whose pipeline was
blown up in the community by Niger Delta Avengers
(NDA) on July 24, for allegedly abandoning them to their
fate after the destructive incident.

They claimed that the explosion caused extensive
damage to houses in the village, besides ruining their
farmlands and other means of livelihood, only for the
company which is working for Nigeria National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), which constructed the
pipeline, to simply evacuate its equipment after the
incident and leave.

NDA, penultimate week, declared an unannounced
ceasefire following appeal by monarchs, leaders and
stakeholders of the Niger Delta coastal states on
militants to sheathe their swords.

2000 houses under threat
Head of the host community, where the NNPC gas
pipeline control valve is located, Eteidung Okon Aaron
Ukpong, told Niger Delta Voice, NDV, that the explosion
destroyed nearly 2000 house.

Besides shattering the villagers’ means of livelihood, he
said the people have become susceptible to untold
danger and insecurity, as their homes now stand on
shaky foundations with the roofing sheets weakened by
harmful chemical effects of the gas emissions.

Our anger against the gas firm, govt – Nkanta, women
leader
The Women Leader of the community, Mrs. Dorothy
Nkanta, who corroborated the claims of the village
head, was aghast at the alleged lack of concern of their
plight showed by government and the firm – Seven
Energy Gas Company – before and after the explosion.

Stressing that the explosion destroyed their cassava
farms, oil palm and other economic trees, Nkanta
lamented: “Unfortunately, Seven Energy came and
evacuated their equipment from the site not minding
the losses the community have recorded.

“That means that they do not care about the disaster
they have brought to us after taking our land to lay
their pipeline and locate their control valve. They are
not bothered about the health hazards and general
calamity the emissions from their pipeline have brought
to our land.

“What have they said is our offence for giving our land
out for them to do business? Is this the kind of reward
we should receive from government and the gas
company for the good thing we did for them?”

Stripped protest
Her words: “But I want to warn that they should not
provoke us to go Unclad on the streets for them else, it
will not be well with them.

“We need compensation for the losses we have
recorded as a result of that gas pipeline explosion and
for the degradation of our land since that gas pipeline
control valve was installed at the Asang Community
High School, else, we will go Unclad on the streets to
provoke the gods of our land to action against these
people, who have suddenly turned our enemies.”

The village head urged both the state and federal
governments to send their agencies to assess the
magnitude of distress the pipeline explosion has
brought to the people of the community with a view to
compensating them.

and Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, arrived the
country Tuesday afternoon for his first-ever visit to
Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, has already had some
encounters with Nigerians in lagos.
The Facebook founder’s first port of call was the Co-
Creation Hub, a technology incubator, in the Yaba area
of Lagos.
The techprenuer took to his verified Facebook page,
and stated that he was in the country to learn about the
startup ecosystem.
“I am learning about the startup ecosystem in Nigeria.
The energy here is amazing and I’m excited to learn as
much as I can.
“Our first stop is the Co-creation Hub Nigeria (CcHUB)
in Yaba. I got to talk to kids at a summer coding camp
and entrepreneurs who come to CcHub to build and
launch their apps”, Zuckerberg said.
Recall that earlier this year, the Chan/Zuckerberg
Initiative invested in Andela – an engineering
organization that is building the next generation of
technical leaders in Africa, after being impressed by
the company’s innovative model of learning and its
drive to connect the global technology ecosystem with
the most talented developers in Africa.
Speaking on Zuckerberg’s visit, Seni Sulyman, Director,
Andela Lagos, said: “We are excited and honored to
welcome Mark Zuckerberg to Lagos. His visit
reinforces not only his support of Andela’s mission,
but his belief that indeed the next generation of great
technology leaders will come out of Lagos, Nigeria and
cities across Africa.
“Andela has created a platform for passionate, driven
software developers and engineers to break into the
global tech ecosystem, but the barriers to entry are still
very high. Mark’s visit demonstrates to all Nigerian
developers and entrepreneurs that they’ve caught the
attention of the tech world, and they are capable of
succeeding on a truly global level.”

Nigeria and UK sign MoU for the return of looted assets

Federal Government of Nigeria and the British Government
today Tuesday August 30th signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) on the modalities for the return of
Nigerian looted assets. The move is a follow up to the
agreement reached at the London anti-corruption summit in
May.
The Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar
Malami, who signed on behalf of the Federal Government
in Abuja, noted that the MoU reflected the willingness of
both countries to continue cooperation and mutual support.
He outlined the objectives of the MoU to include the fact
that the processes of returning stolen assets was a
partnership recognising the interest of both countries and
based on mutual understanding, confidence and trust. That
both countries recognised that they have a mutual interest
in ensuring that returned assets are not at risk of being
misappropriated again.
"And that both countries recognised they have obligations
toward their own citizens for providing such assurances.
That both countries recognised the importance of ensuring
that the highest possible standard of transparency and
accountability are applied for the return of assets." Malami
said.
He assured the international community that all funds
recovered would be judiciously utilised for projects that
would benefit poor Nigerians. Leader of the UK delegation,
British Minister of State for Immigration, Robert Goodwill,
said that the MoU provided the mechanism by which monies
could be returned.
"Our ability to recover and return stolen assets should send
a clear message to all who may seek to habour such assets
that there is no safe haven in the U.K," he said. "We are
keen to do this as soon as the necessary legal process
allow. As outlined at the summit, we will be taking steps to
accelerate the procedures for identification and
confiscation of illegally acquired assets."
He said that they were as committed as Nigeria in ensuring
that beneficial ownership of assets was made available to
relevant authorities so they know who the real owners of
assets held in the UK are.
“Forty jurisdictions, including British Overseas Territories
and Crown Dependencies announced that they will
automatically share beneficial ownership information
relating to companies, trusts, foundations, Shell companies
and other relevant entities and legal arrangements. It is
important that everyone can see how returned assets are
used to benefit Nigerians. We have therefore agreed in this
MoU to be fully transparent about this."

Here Are The “8 Over-Rated Nigerian Artistes” – Do You Agree?

The word “Overrated ” is defined as “having a higher
opinion of someone or something than is deserved.”
After studying the Nigerian music scene,
Naijaloaded brings you this list of 8 Over-Rated
Nigerian Artistes.
These artistes, (some old, some new) are often given
so much credit, but a closer look at their works will
reveal to you that hype outshines talent and acclaim is
founded mostly on media exposure and sentiments.
There’s no denying that the following artistes are
popular and successful but do they really have the X
factor? And even if they do, is it being applied?
After making my observations and opinions (sometimes
scathing) known, I’ll leave you to decide and probably
correct me, if you have a different opinion about these
music stars.

8. Darey
Dare Art Alade – popularly known as Darey – is a
Nigerian singer-songwriter, and Idol series judge. He is
the son of the renowned Nigerian entertainer, Art
Alade.
I had high hopes for Darey, really high hope, and my
hopes were dashed.
He has an impressive voice but doesn’t seem to take
chances. Consistently churning out generic and simple
tracks that sound like a cover or rip-off some singer’s
classic album. I don’t know if it’s because he did
someone’s cover once but I don’t get an originality vibe
from Darey. Failed time after time to really deliver.
Timi Dakolo is doing what everyone hoped Darey would
do years ago.

7. Seyi Shay
Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, (born 21 December 1985),
professionally known by her stage name Seyi Shay is a
Nigerian singer-songwriter, recording artist and
performer.
I have never met this songstress, but I get the diva vibe
off this one. Her slew of embarrassing interviews also
makes one wonder if there is anything upstairs even
though she has quite an impressive musical pedigree.
She can dance a little, has decent vocals and some
good songs. That’s it! Good, not outstanding enough to
be a rave.

6. Mayorkun
Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, (Born 1994) better known
by his Stage Name MAYORKUN is a Nigerian recording
artist, songwriter. In 2016, he signed a record deal with
Davido’s imprint “HKN Gang”.
This guy has been in the music industry for a whole 2
minutes, and his boss davido is already trying to make
us think he is the next Michael Jackson. I understand
the strategy (i really do), and I enjoy his song “Eleko”
but we still haven’t decided yet if he is not just another
“one hit wonder.”
Yes, I know about his new song “Yawa,” so let’s just put
an asterisk on his name and give him some years, to
see if he doesn’t fall into Davido’s shadow.

5. Ice Prince
Panshak Zamani (born 23 October 1986), better known
by his stage name Ice Prince, is a Nigerian hip hop
recording artist and actor.
Ice Prince cannot rap! In fact, he takes the award for
someone really really overrated. His “rap” and flow are
painfully repetitive and annoying; sounding like
someone reciting nursery rhymes. You hear lines
like “dem no dey go front, dem no dey carry last…”
It’s embarrassing just writing that.
He is a testimony of good marketing; chocolate city
really did well by him.

4. Victoria Kimani
Victoria Kimani (born 28 July 1985), is an American-
born Kenyan singer, songwriter, actress and
entertainer. She is currently signed to Chocolate City
and is described as the record label’s first lady.
Well, here goes chocolate city trying to market the hell
out of a no-talent-having pretty girl. The Ice Prince
marketing worked out fine, but it has been said that
thunder doesn’t strike in one place twice, and I believe
it won’t start now.
Please raise your hand if you know or can remember
one song by Victoria Kimani. No hands? Exactly!
I fail to see why she is still relevant. Next!

3. D’banj
Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (born 9 June 1981), known by
his stage name D’banj, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter,
harmonica player, and entrepreneur.
I never really jumped on the DBanj bandwagon. I
believed and still believe he has very little talent and
depended heavily on Don Jazzy’s production and
marketing skills. He went and signed with Good music
and made Nigerians very aware of his mediocrity and
that was the beginning of the end.
“Bother you” is the ONLY Dbanj song with lyrical
content, I stand to be corrected.

2. Kcee
Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo (born 18 April 1979),
better known as Kcee (sometimes stylised as Kcee), is a
Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was formally in the
Hip Hop duo group called Kc Presh. He currently has a
record deal with Five Star Music.
Wow! I am just impressed at the determination with
which he churns out his no-point songs. Kcee hits
sparks sometimes, but you can always differentiate
between a Kcee written song and a song written by
someone talented behind the scenes.
Limpopo, fine face, ogadinma, pull over, love boat,
ogbomma, ok, we get it, you are a feminist, and you love
beautiful girls, can you find something else to sing
about now? I hope you get my point – Generic! Highly
overrated. Highly!
And Number 1 goes to…………………………
Guess Who?

1. Lil Kesh
Keshinro Ololade (born March 14, 1995), popularly
known by his stage name Lil Kesh, is a Nigerian singer,
rapper, and songwriter.
First, I can’t really place this Olamide-wannabe; is he a
singer, a rapper or both as his Wikipedia page claims?
Although his songs are catchy, he doesn’t have one
shred of talent. Not well enough to become as popular
as he is, which quickly brings the word “lucky” into this.
If you are a Lil Kesh fan about to come for me in the
comment section, please tell me you think “ if your
nyash nah jollof rice, I rather eat ofada ” is lyrical
genius?
He isn’t just overrated, he just sucks. I don’t understand
Yoruba language that much but from the very little I
understand, I know he has a foul mouth and no lyrical
content. Always saying something x-rated, senseless
and repeating himself. Even Olamide his (former) boss
started with some sensible songs.
Please note that am a fan of some of these artistes,
and this is not a “hate” list.
Tell us who you think should have been included on this
list and air your views if you have a contrary opinion.

Chris Brown & Police in standoff at his home after lady claims that he threatened her with a gun at his home

Long story short...some lady reported that Chris Brown
pulled a gun on her at his home. The police have
surrounded Chris' home, with helicopters flying around his
house. They claim he barricaded himself at his home and
refused to surrender. The stand-off has been going on for
hours now. Chris has refused to leave his home and
without a search warrant or Chris' permission, the police
can't enter his house. A SWAT team has arrived his home.
Read how TMZ is reporting the whole drama below...
Chris Brown is a suspect in a criminal assault
investigation after a woman called 911 and told
cops ... he threatened her with a gun ... TMZ has
learned. The alleged incident went down early
Tuesday morning in L.A. We're told Chris and the
woman were in a home when she claims they
argued and he pulled the gun.
The woman called 911 and police responded and took a
report. We're told the case is under investigation and Chris
is the sole suspect.
7:55 AM PT -- TMZ has learned Chris was in the house with
several friends, including Ray J . They were talking and at
one point Ray was getting a tattoo when some "uninvited
guests" appeared inside the house and were asked to leave.
At that point, the story gets murky. The guests included a
man who was invited, and two women who were not -- one
of the women who'd been asked to leave is the one who
made the police report, claiming Brown pulled the gun on
her. Someone inside the house insists Chris was asleep the
whole time.
At some point Ray J left the house and when he got to the
base of the driveway, police handcuffed him and seized his
BMW. They checked his ID, uncuffed him and let him go,
but kept his car as evidence. He Ubered home.
At the time of this post, Chris is still in the house. He never
left. Police are knocking on the door, but no one inside is
responding. We don't know what police will do if he tries to
leave.
8:45 AM PT -- We've learned the SWAT team is on its way
to Chris' home and the LAPD is in the process of obtaining
a search warrant. We're told cops want to see if a gun
matching the description from the woman is in the house.
As of now, Chris has not left his residence.
9:20 AM PT -- Chris is finally awake and posting videos.
He's pissed about the police presence at his house and
feels he's being harassed. He even dropped a "F*** tha
police!"
The cops are still outside.
9:40 AM PT -- Police say they are still trying to make
contact with Chris.
Update 2
The woman who called the cops on Chris Brown
says the singer pulled a gun on her because she
was admiring a piece of jewelry ... and afterwards
his people demanded she sign a non-disclosure
agreement.
Baylee Curran appeared on " TMZ Live " and said she
had partied with Chris in the past and he was always
nice, but this time he appeared to be out of it ... on
drugs or alcohol.
She says she came to his house with a friend, spent
a little time in the hot tub, and then walked back
inside where a member of Chris' crew was
displaying a piece of jewelry. Baylee says when she
admired it the guy went nuts, and then Chris
followed suit by demanding she "get the f*** out"
and pointed a gun at her.
The craziest part ... as she tried to leave she says
Chris' people wouldn't let her take her cell phone
until she signed a non-disclosure agreement. She
refused to sign, and she and her friend left.
TMZ broke the story ... Baylee, Miss California
Regional 2016, called 911 and that started the
standoff with Chris.
Law enforcement sources tell us Chris is about to
get arrested.
Police have retrieved at least one gun, other
weapons and drugs from Chris Brown 's home,
after Chris threw a duffel bag out the window of
his home ... TMZ has learned.
TMZ broke the story ... cops raced to Chris' home
early Tuesday morning after a woman called 911
and claimed he pulled a gun on her.
Police have been at the house since 3 AM and are in
the process of getting a search warrant. Chris has
not left the house, but multiple sources tell us he
was defiant as he threw the duffel bag out the
window, taunting cops and saying, "Come and get
me."
Chris posted a video in which he refers to Black
Lives Matter, saying "f*** the police."
Two sources on scene tells us in addition to
weapons there were drugs in the duffel bag. As for
the woman who called 911 ... she's a beauty pageant
title holder.
11:11 AM PT -- We're live streaming outside Chris'
house ... where police are waiting for him to
surrender.
12:30 PM PT -- Chris' attorney Mark Geragos just
arrived entered the house. We're expecting Chris to
surrender sometime soon.
12:49 PM PT -- Chris' entourage has started filing
out of the house. They're all lining up outside the
front door with cops checking them for weapons.
Still no sign of Chris yet.
At the same time ... police are holding a news
conference at the base of Chris' driveway.

Unilag Student Faces 4 Semesters Rustication For Social Media Post (See What He Posted)

A student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Adeyeye Olorunfemi of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences department of Building has been rusticated for 4 semesters for criticising the management of the institution.

It will be recalled that the authorities of the institution recently rusticated 11 executive members of the school’s Students’ Union executives, including its president, Muhammed Olaniyan, over the April 2016 protest. The affected students were rusticated between two and four semesters, which took effect from the second semester of the 2015/2016 academic session.

Those serving two-semester penalty were informed to apply for readmission at the beginning of the second semester of the 2016/2017 academic session, while those that are out for four semesters are advised to reapply in the second semester of 2017/2018 academic session. One of the students, Adeyeye Olorunfemi’s was suspended for criticising the leadership of the institution on their inability to manage situations as “democrats”.

The student expressed his mind in his article titled, ” The Senate of the University of Lagos; a Conglomeration of Academic Ignorami”.

The article reads:- Title:- The Senate of the University of Lagos; a Conglomeration of Academic Ignorami. The University of Lagos prides itself as a cosmopolitan University and over the years has maintained the status quo of excellence among her peers in Nigeria and the world at large. I promise not to make this BOMB as lengthy and circuitous as my last post on this medium.

I will also make it as lucid as possible. I mentioned in my last article WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT THE GREAT NIGERIA STUDENTS the jejunity of the Mission statement of the UNILAG,Hardly had I finished the article when the whole statement of mine started receiving fulfillment .One would call me a prophet!.

I now see the reason for the backwardness of my Nation, we blame those at the corridor of “power” forgetting those at the corridor of “education”; the corridor of “common sense “.I am a discussant of History and it has made me realise that from time immemorial, whenever there is problem in the society ,tertiary institutions are places of solace, they are citadels of solutions.

Government would go to schools to consult undergraduates, lecturers; professors as they posed to be the backbone of the society. Now, Nigeria is in shambles, the economy is crumbling, where is Dr Nduibisi Nwokoma of the Economics department?, Buhari is still waiting for your economic model computation and those econometrics rubbish theories you teach your students Prof. G.L Oyekan!.., there is infrastructural decay!. Prof. Idoro Godwin, buildings are collapsing and projects are poorly handled!. This is not project planning class where you come to disturb students with your unending battery of questions e.g What is Objective? ..answer- Objective is ….Question 2- What is “is”?. What a comedian! Vice Chancellor sir!, you remain a first class Chemical engineering graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife.What has happened to the Great Ife in you!. Our power generation is deteriorating and you are alive . The Nation’s investment of knowledge on you to make you a scholar is a WASTE. Your first class honours degree is the true definition of a FIASCO.

That’s by the way,the protest that led to Senate’s resolution to dissolve the Student Union and the forceful blood covenant Oath-taking was a peaceful one. One that started on a calm note with the intention to end in a day only if the DSA or VC came to talk to the students during the act. The Egocentricity of an African man would not just allow them to come, They are PhD holders. I call them ACADEMIC IGNORAMUSES! .

The irresponsibility, insensitivity and irresponsiveness to the welfare of the students of the VC and his mis MANAGEMENT have shown that they are all misfits when it comes to parenthood. They all stood up when the former mistake we had as president tried to rename Unilag to Maulag because the brand UNILAG gives them the pride they need to sleep with any girl-student and admission-seekers effortlessly.

These are the goings-on in Unilag, let the world know!. The likes of Ogbinaka Karo were ready to tear down the nation if the renaming was not revoked. Now, this is our own issue; Welfarism, we can’t find them. Are they telling me that the Name issue is greater than Welfarism. Is the aesthetics of a building more important than the structural stability? , If you don’t know, go ask the MD, Lekki Gardens.

My secondary school teacher once told me that during his days at the University of Ibadan, they protested when the chicken on their breakfast meal was reduced to 1 instead of the usual 2. For Christ’s sake ,was it this same Nigeria? . We never asked for all these things Bello and his cohorts enjoyed, all we asked for was water/light and all we could get from a sensible Senate is the threat of expulsion.

Are there no “common sense” persons in the management anymore? .We mourn late Prof. Ayodele Awojobi freshly.. I promised not to make this too lengthy but I stand in this era for change as I don’t want to be much too a victim of circumstances because I have never gained anything from this system of education. I learn everything myself just like most of us. My lecturers are too busy to teach but are very ready to threaten you with failure. Where is Julius Faremi? .

I am ready not as Adekunle Gold but as an active citizen for any step they might want to take against me. E e ba mi ni’be.

I remain Adeyeye Olorunfemi.
